RIDERS GEAR UP FOR INAUGURAL PRURIDE SIX DAY HONG KONG FRESH FROM HER DOUBLE GOLD MEDAL HAUL IN THE

Hosted by Olympic gold medallist and Tour de France winner Sir Bradley Wiggins, and presented by Prudential Hong Kong, PRURide Six Day Hong Kong will be the Six Day Series’ first event in Asia and the fifth stop of the 2018/19 season.

Featuring the world’s best male, female and junior riders, spectators can look forward to an action-packed, three-day cycling showcase, set in a spectacular arena environment with cutting-edge presentation and entertainment.

Speaking ahead of her Six Day Series debut, Lee said: “I’m very excited about PRURide Six Day Hong Kong coming to my home city and am really looking forward to it.

“The atmosphere at the recent World Cup in Hong Kong was excellent but with the additional lights and music that the Six Day Series is famous for, it should be even better.

“I’ll be doing my best to win and even more so given that I’ll be competing in front of a home crowd.”

Hong Kong’s most famous track cyclist was joined on stage by Max Levy of Germany. The three-time Olympic medallist and four-time World Championship gold medal winner is a Six Day veteran, being the first rider to achieve over 100 podiums in the multi-discipline series.

“I think spectators will be in for a welcome surprise. The Six Day Series is quite unlike any other event anywhere in the world, with 60 cyclists competing in non-stop racing action. But the atmosphere created inside the velodrome is quite unique and something that even the riders need to familiarise themselves with,” said Levy.

“The combination of the music, lighting, special effects, plus the adrenalin-rush we get on the bikes is something else. It’s great to be able to come to a city like Hong Kong. It will be an excellent addition to the series.”

Title sponsor Prudential also announced that it will be staging a Family Fun Ride on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 March. Held at Hong Kong Velodrome Park, the cycle-fest will be free to attend and will feature numerous family-friendly activities including a kids’ strider course, virtual cycling experience, stage, live music, kids’ entertainment, food and beverages as well 200 bikes for families to ride around the park.

Priscilla Ng, Chief Customer and Marketing Officer, Prudential Hong Kong said, “As an organisation that is committed to encouraging a healthy and active lifestyle, PRURide Six Day Hong Kong presents us with the perfect opportunity to bring our brand purpose to life. The two-day Family Fun Ride will enable us to share some of the excitement from within the velodrome with the general public outside.

“Whether it’s the excitement of the track racing or the opportunity to get back on a bike and enjoy a family day out, we encourage as many people as possible to come to Velodrome Park and join in the fun.”

In addition to the action taking place both within and outside the velodrome, PRURide Six Day Hong Kong will also feature a 24-hr Charity Challenge. The third component of the cycling festival will see 20 corporate teams compete on static bikes over 24 hours to raise money for charity. With team members sharing the workload, riders will be competing for honours in overall distance completed (Men’s, Women’s and Mixed), as well as the team raising the largest amount of money.

Funds raised will be donated to Sports Legacy. The scheme is designed to help athletes pursue a career in sport after retirement while promoting physical fitness and sporting culture in schools. Teams will also be encouraged to raise money for their chosen charities.

Tickets to PRURide Six Day Hong Kong are priced from HKD 240 to HKD 380 and are available starting today. For more information on PRURide Six Day Hong Kong, please visit pruridesixday.hk
