VENTURI FORMULA E TEAM SWISS E-PRIX PREVIEW
19 June 2019, Monaco – The VENTURI Formula E Team heads to the Swiss capital of Bern to contest stage eleven of the 2018-2019 Formula E Championship on Saturday 22 June. The race has extra significance for Edoardo MORTARA, as the Geneva-born VENTURI driver will be racing in front of a home crowd for the second successive year.
A COMPLEX CIRCUIT The 2.75km track includes 14 turns set out over steeper inclines and descents than most other Formula E tracks presenting an unique challenge in terms of energy management, braking and dynamics for the VENTURI VFE-05 car. The comparatively narrow Bern circuit is the second longest on the Formula E calendar (behind Rome), with a wide variety of demanding turns making overtaking complicated. A strong qualifying performance will be crucial to the team’s success.
CONSOLIDATE AND PROGRESS The VENTURI Formula E Team currently lies 7th in the overall constructors’ rankings. As the team sets up base on the banks of the river Aare, the clear objective is to draw on recent experiences to collect as many points as possible as the season draws to a close.
IN THEIR WORDS “I can’t believe that it’s already the penultimate weekend of the season, obviously I’d really like to finish the championship on a positive note. We have had some very, very good results this year, but also some not so good but let’s hope everything goes well this weekend. I live in Geneva, so like any driver competing on home turf, the Swiss E-Prix is close to my heart and I’m looking forward to seeing all the fans. I’ll have family and a lot of friends with me, which will obviously give me even more motivation.” Edoardo MORTARA, VENTURI Formula E Team driver
“I lived in Zurich for three years at the start of my F1 career and I have really good memories of Switzerland and its people. The Swiss love motorsport and I’m looking forward to driving in front of them for the first time. The layout of the track represents an interesting challenge but it’s new for everyone, as this is the first time a FE race has been held in the streets of Bern so we’ll all be learning it together. Hopefully we can score some more points and perhaps even get back on the podium.” Felipe MASSA, VENTURI Formula E Team driver
“It’s always great to race in a new city for the first time - the geographical diversity of the championship calendar is part of what makes Formula E special. The track configuration looks very interesting and I think the steep inclines in particular will make for some compelling racing. The team is well prepared but as always, and especially with a new circuit, the real test comes when we get out on track.” Susie WOLFF, VENTURI Formula E Team Principal
Free practice, qualifying and the race itself will take place over the course of a single day, Saturday 22 June. To keep up with all the action, follow VENTURI Formula E Team on Twitter: VENTURI Formula E Team
