FP1: Inter Europol Sets The Early Pace in Abu Dhabi
The first 90-minute Free Practice session of the final weekend of the 2025/26 Asian Le Mans Series in Abu Dhabi saw the no43 Inter Europol Competition Oreca-Gibson head the timing screens ahead of the no4 Crowdstrike Racing by APR Oreca.
The session saw two red flags to recover cars that had gone off and to repair the techno barriers that had done their job in absorbing the impacts.
The no8 Team Virage Ligier JS P325-Toyota driven by Vic Stevens and the no59 United Autosports McLaren 720S GT3 driven by Wayne Boyd were quickest in LMP3 and GT respectively.
FP2: APR FASTEST UNDER THE FLOODLIGHTS
The second and final Free Practice of the ALMS season saw the no25 Algarve Pro Racing Oreca take the spot in the night session. Tom Dillmann’s time of 1m41.290 was three tenths slower than the best time set in FP1 but 0.045s faster than the rest of the LMP2 field, led by the no30 RD Limited Oreca of Tristan Vautier.
The no23Events Racing Ligier of Matteo Quintarelli and the no9 Getspeed Mercedes-AMG of Steve Jans were fastest in LMP3 and GT.
READY FOR THE FINAL WEEKEND IN ABU DHABI
The 46 cars entered for the season finale of the 2025/26 Asian Le Mans Series gathered under the W hotel at the Yas Marina Circuit for a spectacular group picture.
EGYPT'S IBRAHIM BADAWY MADE HISTORY IN DUBAI
By winning the second 4 Hours of Dubai last weekend with his 23Events Racing teammates Terrence Woodward and Matus Ryba, Ibrahim Badawy became the first ever Egyptian driver to win an international race.
The 2025/26 season got off to a bad start when the no71 Ligier-Toyota recorded a DNF on lap 1 in opening race in Sepang, but Woodward, Ryba and Badawy have followed this by three podiums in a row - a second place in Sepang race 2 and then a third, followed by the win in Dubai. This has put the 23Events Racing trio in the hunt for the title this weekend in Abu Dhabi, just 11 points behind leaders CLX Motorsport.
We caught up with Ibrahim Badawy as he prepares for the 2025/26 Asian Le Mans Series finale.
