Aspire Park in Qatari capital the destination for the end-of-season beach volleyball spectacular The debut season of the Beach Pro Tour will reach its fascinating climax at the Beach Pro Tour Finals in Doha, Qatar between 26 and 29 January 2023. It will be the first of three Beach Pro Tour Finals held in the Qatari capital after Volleyball World put pen to paper on a three-year agreement with the Qatar Volleyball Federation and Aspire Zone Foundation who will host the event at the stunning Aspire Park sports complex in the shadow of the impressive 300-metre (980 ft) Torch Hotel. Until 3 December 2022, every match will count as the world’s best beach volleyball teams will be fighting to secure one of the 10 coveted places up for grabs at the end-of-season spectacular. The top eight teams per gender based on the World Ranking after the Elite16 event in Australia will guarantee their spot at the Aspire Zone Foundation – an illustrious location famous for hosting some of the world’s biggest sports teams. An additional two teams will receive a wildcard entry to join the best eight to compete for the seasonal championship title. The winners of the Finals will each be crowned 2022 Beach Pro Tour champions and receive 150,000 US Dollars of the overall 800,000-US Dollar prize purse. 香港閃避球總會(下稱總會) 將派出 32 位運動員前往加拿大，角逐在埃德蒙頓 (Edmonton) 舉行的世界閃避球錦標賽2022 (World Dodgeball Championships 2022)，力爭為港帶來自疫情的第一面閃避球世錦賽獎牌。 為鼓舞士氣向運動員打氣，及紀念今屆為疫情以來首個閃避球世錦賽，總會特意舉辦「世界閃避球錦標賽香港閃避球代表隊授旗儀式」，更邀請到支持閃避球運動發展的榮譽嘉賓，分別為：體育、演藝、文化及出版界立法會議員；中國香港體育協會暨奧林匹克委員會副會長 霍啟剛先生﹑香港閃避球總會會長 Mr. Brian Li 以及中國香港新興運動協會創辦人 黎廣業先生出席是次儀式。各嘉賓也祝願代表隊能於是次賽事取得佳績，為港爭光。 世界閃避球錦標賽將於8月28日至9月4日假加拿大埃德蒙頓舉行，港隊將會有16名男及16名女球手出征，參與男子、女子及今屆世錦賽加設的混合組3個組別的賽事。 此賽事乃閃避球界的最高水平盛事，本屆規模更為歷年之冠，將有來自25個國家，80支隊伍，超過 700 名運動員出戰競逐6個組別。港隊將會參與男子﹑女子及混合組別，與主辦國加拿大以及閃避球強國如美國，馬來西亞和澳洲等競逐殊榮。 總會自 2008 年成立以來一直致力發展閃避球這項在世界漸趨普及的團隊運動。對賽雙方各派 6 人於一個 18 x 9 m (一個正規排球場) 的場地以 6 個閃避球專用的海棉球互相投擲。對賽過程中可以持球擋開投擲 (Block)﹑以接球 (Catch) 令投擲該球的球員出局並「復活」一名隊友﹑亦可以閃避(Dodge) 躲開對方攻擊。只要令對方球員全部離場就會取得一分，於限時內得分較高者為勝方。 目前，香港閃避球男子及女子隊在世界排名均列第五，與美國、加拿大及澳洲等國家同屬世界列强。2012年，香港閃避球男子及女子隊更於第一屆世界閃避球錦標賽，分別奪得冠軍及亞軍的驕人成績。2014年，第三屆世界閃避球錦標賽在香港伊利沙伯體育館舉行，香港隊的表現也相當亮眼。冀望各位能多多關注及支持香港閃避球的發展，齊撐香港運動員！ 資料及相片來源 ︰香港閃避球總會

Sun 14 Aug. 2022 – Stoffel Vandoorne steered to silverware with a second-place finish in the Hana Bank Seoul E-Prix to seal the 2021/22 ABB FIA Formula E Drivers’ World Championship and secure the Teams’ World Championship for Mercedes-EQ. On a momentous day for Formula E that saw Edoardo Mortara (ROKiT Venturi Racing) win the 100th E-Prix race in the world’s first electric motorsport World Championship, Vandoorne’s Season 8 title also marks the end of the Gen2 era in Formula E – the second iteration of electric race car in the series – with the Gen3 race car debuting next season as the fast lightest, most powerful and efficient electric race car ever built. Formula E’s first venture into the South Korean capital of Seoul saw Vandoorne navigate a Lap 1 melee and keep it clean throughout the rest of the race to bring the Silver Arrow 02 home in second place. Only Mitch Evans (Jaguar TCS Racing) had any chance of catching Vandoorne going into the race. But Vandoorne’s eighth podium of the season – more than any other driver – proved to be enough to see him take a maiden Drivers’ crown and hand Mercedes-EQ back-to-back Drivers' and Teams’ titles on the German marque’s Formula E swansong. Mortara controlled the race once he hit the front via a stunning dummy that saw him complete a successful switchback on Julius Bär Polesitter António Félix da Costa (DS TECHEETAH) on Lap 3. From there, he managed the gap and his usable energy perfectly to sign off his and Venturi’s campaign in style – the Monegasque outfit taking second in the Teams’ running ahead of DS TECHEETAH, and Mortara third in the Drivers’ Championship. Jake Dennis (Avalanche Andretti) drove to a strong third position, despite a tough-to-take five second penalty following a coming-together with da Costa. Robin Frijns (Envision Racing), Oliver Askew (Avalanche Andretti), and Jean-Éric Vergne (DS TECHEETAH) rounded out the top six, with Evans coming home an eventual seventh – a strong drive with little else he could have done. Nobody won more than Evans' four races this season, but it was Vandoorne's consistency - just one non-score and the record eight podiums - that sealed the deal. Season 8 was the biggest to date in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship with 16 races on street circuits in 10 world cities: Diriyah, Mexico City, Rome, Monaco, Berlin, Jakarta, Marrakesh, New York City, London and Seoul – both Jakarta and Seoul were debuts for Formula E. The dawn of the Gen3 era in Season 9 will see Formula E go bigger and further than ever before with a provisional calendar featuring 18 races in 13 cities. Sat. 13 Aug. 2022 – Mitch Evans produced under pressure to keep his title chances alive and slice into Stoffel Vandoorne's points advantage as the Kiwi jumped from third on the grid to win the 2022 Hana Bank Seoul E-Prix in style. The Jaguar TCS Racing driver dispatched Julius Bär Polesitter Oliver Rowland (Mahindra Racing) off the line as the Brit struggled to get away cleanly over greasy road markings, the circuit still soaked from an earlier downpour. Evans then rounded Lucas di Grassi (ROKiT Venturi Racing) with a stealthy move into Turn 3 on the opening lap and didn’t look back. It was an incident-packed opening lap as a multi-car shunt at the penultimate corner caused a 45-minute Red Flag stoppage. Sébastien Buemi, Oliver Askew, André Lotterer, Dan Ticktum, Oliver Turvey, Nick Cassidy, Norman Nato and Nyck de Vries were all caught out by standing water to hit the wall. There was an audible gasp from stadium crowd as they saw de Vries' Silver Arrow 02 undercut Buemi's Nissan which came to rest on top of the Dutchman’s car. Thankfully there were no injuries. After the restart, it was a relatively serene Saturday afternoon for Evans, who eased to a comfortable three-second gap for much of the race ahead of Rowland. The Brit was happy to seal his first podium finish of the season and his first with Mahindra. Meanwhile, Rowland’s future Mahindra teammate, Lucas di Grassi, earned his 39th podium in third place and became the first driver in Formula E to surpass 1,000 points. Tomorrow, he is set to become the only driver in the Championship to have competed in all 100 E-Prix. Jake Dennis (Avalanche Andretti) steered to the TAG Heuer Fastest Lap and fourth place, while Vandoorne kept the points ticking over with fifth place. Jean-Éric Vergne (DS TECHEETAH) had a mathematical chance of winning the Championship going into the race but his sixth place finish ends his unlikely title run. The inaugural race in Seoul today will be followed tomorrow by Round 16, the final race in the biggest-ever ABB FIA Formula E World Championship season of 16 races in 10 world cities. The second race in the Hana Bank Seoul E-Prix will also be the 100th E-Prix in Formula E history, and will mark the end of the Gen2 race car era, ahead of an all-new Gen3 race car debuting next season. Kelly Cheng and Betsi Flint record first podium for US at Elite16 while Poles Micahl Bryl and Bartosz Losiak win epic men’s final The USA’s Kelly Cheng and Betsi Flint and Bartosz Losiak and Michal Bryl of Poland triumphed at the Beach Pro Tour Elite16 in Hamburg. In front of a packed Rothenbaum area and with the iconic roof of the stadium closed, two high quality finals wowed the crowd on Sunday afternoon. In beating Swiss pair Tanja Hüberli and Nina Brunner in straight sets (21-18, 21-19), Cheng and Flint became the first American team to win an Elite16 medal. “Our goal is Paris 2024, so this is an awesome stepping stone. It’s great for our team to have our first international win because that’s the main focus. So it’s incredible, it’s fun to celebrate, but we have a ton of work to do going forward,” defender Flint, who celebrated her 30th birthday on Saturday, told Volleyball World. Blocker Cheng said: “I want to win a gold medal every tournament I go to, so this is just great. It’s also very nice to see all of our hard work pay off. When all the pieces start coming together, it gets really exciting. “Now, for the rest of the year, it’s cleaning up things, working on consistency and trying to beat everyone on Tour all the time. We want to dominate the Beach Pro Tour, so that’s what we are working towards and I think we have the capabilities. It’s about being consistent, taking care of the opportunities that we create for ourselves and having fun along the way.” Men’s gold medalists Losiak and Bryl battled through two rounds of qualification to take their first Elite16 title – and their fourth of the 2022 Beach Pro Tour campaign after winning three Challenge events. The Poles edged a dramatic one-hour six-minute marathon 21-18, 16-21, 29-27 against Dutch duo Alexander Brouwer and Robert Meeuwsen. “The entire time we believed that we could finish this game and I am really proud of our team,” blocker Bryl told Volleyball World. “I hope with this experience the next tournament may be easier for us. All is good and Bartosz and I will keep working together.” Defender Losiak added: “I think we had a very good performance here. We started from the qualification and played a lot of matches. We are very tired, but when you are winning, you don’t feel the pain. “I think this partnership was a good change for both of us. 正在愛爾蘭利默里克舉行的「2022男子U21棍網球世界錦標賽」，中國香港隊昨晚（14日）在第三個比賽日遇上荷蘭並以11：5取得三連捷。本場的開球多達20 次，其中港隊命中達17次，當中湯嘉俊表現神勇被賽會冠以「猛獸」的稱號，港隊在16日凌晨1時將在小組賽最後一戰迎戰瑞典。 港隊開局雖取得控球權，但長達2分鐘均無法攻破對方防線。教練Chad Fairfoull（譯名：費福特）馬上使用暫停以協助球員作出調整。港隊在教練提點後馬上有零的突破，Liam Ferris（譯名：李安）助攻杜康馬上取得第一分，不久被對方在5分鐘內反擊追平1：1。雖被對方扳平，但沒有損害港隊士氣，港隊繼續在第一節製造攻勢， Liam Ferris（譯名：李安）及昨日被評賽會選為5星球員的曾慶睿助攻李嘉寶增添2球，將比分拉開至3：1。 第二節荷蘭隊先取一分拉近比數，不過馬上被港隊中場球員張海賢越過敵軍防線連入2球，把分數再度拉開至5:2，緊接防守球員在荷蘭隊手中搶得控球權後於中場位置交到前場，蔡沐恩接過後長傳助攻曾慶睿直線抽射入，使港隊有4分領先差距，可惜本節結束前被荷蘭隊射一球，港隊最終在第二節以6:3領先。 荷蘭隊在第三節採取主動進攻的戰術，港隊馬上調整防守策略，即使對手嘗試4次帶球到門前仍等未能打破港龍門李正彰的防守。 即使第三節港隊面對荷蘭隊的猛烈進攻，羅誠智仍然可以單人在本節連續射入2球，以8:3完成第三節。 在最後一節港隊再取4分，縱使荷蘭隊發現港隊的漏洞連追2球，但可惜為時以晚，最終港隊以11:5贏得本場賽事。香港隊現以3戰全勝排列E組榜首，下場將於香港時間16日凌晨1時迎戰瑞典。 資料及相片來源 : N Square

香港隊昨晚（13日）在愛爾蘭利默里克舉行的「2022男子U21棍網球世界錦標賽」，以10:4輕取烏干達報捷。這項賽事由8月10至20日舉行，港隊被編入E組，與韓國、烏干達、荷蘭及瑞典同組。下一場港隊將會在香港時間13日晚上9時對上荷蘭。 港隊今場一開始便迅速入局，蔡沐恩在開局3分鐘率先為球隊取得一分，緊接助攻Ferris, Liam（譯：李安）再入一球領先2:0。進攻球員杜康今日繼續發揮穏定，最後5分鐘以漂亮的彈地球為港隊再增添一分。而首次出戰U21世錦賽的對手烏干達隊雖奮力進攻但始終未能在港隊手中取得入球，香港第一節領先3:0。 第二節雙方均提升防守能力並放緩進攻節奏，雙方拉鋸超過12分鐘由港隊杜康再度破門，港隊全節僅收穫一球，仍把比數拉開至4:0。第三節烏干達隊開局30秒終打破攻門取得今屆世錦賽中的第一個球。港隊並未有鬆懈，先後由蔡沐恩、杜康等兩位中場球員助攻張海賢及黃浩東為港隊再增添3分，可惜這時烏干達隊發動攻勢連追2球，最終港隊以7:3完成第三局，保持4分差距。 雖然港隊在第三節被烏干達隊反擊3分力追，但在第四節時亦處變不驚，冷靜處理進攻並尋找對方防守缺口，最終曾慶睿完場前5分鐘再度發攻射入一球並接連助攻防守球員莊燿龍及杜康為港隊取得2分，最終以10：4勝出今場小組賽。 資料及相片來源 : N Square / 香港棍網球總會
