Where and when the 52 matches will played during the 20th edition of the championship The match schedule for the new-look FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championships in Poland and Slovenia has been announced with a number of high-profile names in action on the first day’s play. Among those nations headlining on the opening day on 26 August are reigning world champions and co-hosts Poland, who begin the defence of their title against Bulgaria at 20:30 CEST in Katowice. Runners-up from 2018, Brazil, kick-off at 11:00 CEST against Cuba in Ljubljana, while tournament debutants Qatar play a historic first match against Japan at 14:00 CEST in the Slovenia capital. USA, third three years ago, go head-to-head with Mexico at 17:30 CEST in Katowice, while Slovenia – making only their second appearance at the championships – start their campaign against Cameroon in Ljubljana at 20:30 CEST. Plus, if that was not enough, Olympic champions from Tokyo, France, begin their quest for a first world title with a match against European rivals Germany at 17:30 CEST in Ljubljana. New format ready to rumble Every match will count during the championship after Volleyball World and the FIVB announced in March a new format for the event. The competition formula will see the 24 competing teams spread across six pools of four, playing in a single round-robin format. The top two nations in each pool and the four best third-placed teams will qualify for the elimination round – making it much simpler for fans across the globe to keep track of the action. FIVB President Dr Ary S. Graça F° said: “With just less than two months to go to the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship, preparations are in full swing for this prestigious event. Now, with the match schedule announced, the world’s best national teams have a clearer picture of the road they must travel to reach the coveted title of world champions. “I would like to once again express my thanks to our co-hosts, Poland and Slovenia, for organising this prestigious event, and I have no doubt they will deliver an incredible celebration of volleyball for fans across the world.” Volleyball World CEO Finn Taylor said: “The announcement of the match schedule illustrates just how the new competition format will benefits players and fans. 正在美國陶森舉行四年一度的世界女子棍網球錦標賽，中國香港棍網球隊女子隊在最後一場分組賽以8:10負新西蘭隊，今日港隊採取快攻戰略，開局20秒先由姚美玉先拔頭籌，跟隨有林穎怡建功再得1分。新西蘭球員見短時間連失2分，隨即發動攻勢追回1分，接下港隊嘗試將比分拉開，先姚美玉、王瑋婷等球員射入龍門，但新西蘭球員也經得起考驗追和4:4。 第二節由港隊林穎怡先取得控球權，雙方拉拉鋸至7分鐘後由新西蘭球員破門。其後新西蘭女繼續發動功勢把比分拉開到4:7，最後1分鐘港隊許家希再次取得控球權後由姚美玉射入，半場港隊落後2分5:7。 落後的港隊在中場休息後連追2球，先有夏梓敏取得自由球的機會射入1球，接著再由姚美玉成功破門扳回 7:7，第三節尾段8分鐘時間新西蘭隊及港隊林穎怡各得一分以8:8完成第3節。雙方把小組賽出線的機會放在第4節比賽，雙方努力尋找進攻機會以及加強防守，可惜港隊先被對方連攻2球，面對挑戰的港隊嘗試打亂對方節奏爭取進攻機會不果，最終以8:10負對手。 今場比賽港隊雖以2分再度飲恨，但仍以2勝2負+21得失球成績，以小組第三名成功晉身16強。下場將於香港時間7月6日早上7時對上世界排名第一的美國強隊爭取進入8強席位。 Information and photo source : N Square / The Hong Kong Lacrosse Association

正在美國陶森舉行四年一度的世界女子棍網球錦標賽，中國香港棍網球隊女子隊在世界女子棍網球錦標賽今日(7月4日)於第三場遇上上屆排名高出港隊5名的愛爾蘭隊，雙方激戰至加時階段，最後愛爾蘭隊在黃金入球的賽制下首先射入以11:12勝得本場賽事，港隊以一分之差落敗。 本場賽事節奏非常緊湊，開局先有愛爾蘭隊零的突破，其後港隊中場球員李孟瓊及王瑋婷連追2分追回2:1。直到本節最後3分鐘王瑋婷再入一球嘗試為港隊拉開比分至3:1，但愛爾蘭隊在最後一分鐘再射入一球，緊貼比分3:2 。 第二節港隊把握開局取得控球權的優勢由姚溫莎射入一球，其後再由許家希再射入自由球，把分數拉開至5:2。但愛爾蘭隊迅速追回2分，港隊本節最後以只能以5:4維持1分領先。 下半場比賽更激烈，雙方攻守5分鐘由愛爾蘭隊首先突破港隊防線扳平5:5，緊接2分鐘後對方再攻入一球反超港隊5:6 。港隊馬上重整旗鼓及加強防守，防守球員胡嘉汝成功在愛爾蘭隊手中奪取控球權並由翟嘉恩助攻林穎怡射入追和6:6 ，可惜尾段被愛爾蘭隊連追2球，反超6:8 。 最後一節戰雙方仍然苦戰，開局5分鐘港隊由王瑋婷及姚溫莎各射入2波，助港隊連取4分再度領先10:8 。雖然，愛爾蘭隊在受壓情況下追回1分，但港隊王瑋婷此時再度得分維持2分領先。可惜愛爾蘭隊在完場前3分鐘連取得2分及在哨聲前6秒追平11:11。最終，雙方需要進入加時，唯愛爾蘭隊率先取得控球權並射入黃金入球，港隊以一分之差落敗這場比賽。 香港完成這3場賽事後，於香港時間4日晚上9時正與同樣D 組的新西蘭對壘爭取出戰16強。 Information and photo source : N Square / The Hong Kong Lacrosse Association

四年一度的世界女子棍網球錦標賽於6月29至7月9日假美國陶森舉行，香港棍網球隊女子隊在世界女子棍網球錦標賽今日(7月3日)再傳來好消息，繼首場横掃西班牙後，今仗越戰越勇，全場以18/22次的控球權，以及超過40次以上的射門，最後以15:2大比數擊敗奧地利隊。當中28號進攻球員林穎怡全場共射入4球2次助攻並獲選本場最有價值球員，中場球員23號王瑋婷及26號史卓妍各射入3球，全隊表現凌厲。 香港棍網球女子隊於香港時間7月2日晚上7:30進行，林穎怡於開場30秒為港隊打破攻門贏取一分，其後雙方互有攻守唯無法打破對方龍門，直至第一節完結前5分鐘由姚溫莎助攻王瑋婷射入為港隊再奪一分。其後奧地利隊𣊬間扳回2:1，但仍然無阻港隊士氣，姚溫莎把握隊友林穎怡助攻再射入一球，將分數拉開至3:1 。 第二節港隊氣勢更凌厲，史卓妍上演多次精彩入球，開局2分鐘便成功破門連取3分入球。同時，隊員姚美玉協助港隊射入一球，半場過後比分已拉開7:1 。 下半場港隊維持急速的節奏，王瑋婷多次取得控球權並在第三節交出2分，為港隊拉開9:1。雖然，奧地利隊在比賽中段追回1分，但帶著領先優勢的港隊未見受壓，重新組織防守後分別由林穎怡及蔡沛恩各入一球，港隊於第三節完結已取得11分把對手大大拉開。 最後一節雙方防守加強，對方嘗試多次進攻被擋，港隊的防守球員亦多次嘗試爭取控球權。兩隊拉鋸10分鐘後終由林穎怡得分打破僵局取得第12個入球，其後港隊發現對方的防守失誤，由李孟瓊分別助攻林穎怡及周旨程2人各得1分，以及姚溫莎助攻許嘉希取得全場最後1 分，全場以15:2大勝奧地利隊。 香港完成這2場賽事後，於香港時間7月3日晚上11時正迎戰D組的愛爾蘭及4日晚上9時正與同樣D 組的新西蘭對壘爭取出戰16強。 資料及相片來源 : N Square / 香港棍網球總會
