Sat. 2 July 2022 – Edoardo Mortara hit the top of the Drivers' World Championship with victory in the Marrakesh E-Prix as the ROKiT Venturi Racing driver fended off severe pressure from DS TECHEETAH teammates António Félix da Costa and Jean-Éric Vergne throughout. Da Costa started on Julius Bär Pole Position and, after falling behind Mortara during the early duo of ATTACK MODE activations, he clung to the back of the Swiss’ car as the race reached its climax. But the Season 6 champion couldn't make it past the ROKiT Venturi Racing driver who looked utterly unflustered on the way to the top step and his third win of the season, as well as the standings lead. Mercedes-EQ’s Stoffel Vandoorne was top of the Drivers’ World Championship going into the race but a braking glitch in qualifying left him down in 20th on the grid. He recovered to finish eighth but with just four points on the day, Mortara stands tall at the end of Round 10 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. Vergne had found himself in second heading into the closing stages with two percent of usable energy available before he slipped back behind da Costa to an eventual fourth position. Fellow title challenger Mitch Evans (Jaguar TCS Racing) fought from sixth on the grid to the podium with a final lap lunge on Vergne for silverware and a handful of extra, crucial World Championship points. In the searing 33-degree heat, drivers and engineers elected to jump early for their two mandatory ATTACK MODE boosts with the school of thought being that it would be more efficient and effective in the long run to ply that extra 30kW through the batteries and powertrain. In the mix was Lucas di Grassi (ROKiT Venturi Racing), who battled to fifth and vital points for the Monegasque team, who now lead the Teams' World Championship. Reigning World Champion Nyck de Vries (Mercedes-EQ) clambered to sixth and Jake Dennis (Avalanche Andretti) would have to settle for seventh. Vandoorne did make up an impressive 12 spots to finish eighth in the end after his qualifying disappointment. Sam Bird wound up ninth for Jaguar TCS Racing, and Oliver Rowland - who ran as high as second spot early on - rounded out the points-paying positions in 10th. All that saw Mortara jump to an 11-point Drivers’ World Championship lead, with Vergne second and Vandoorne now third, having led heading into this Marrakesh E-Prix race weekend. Evans finds himself just 15 points shy of Mortara, with the top four breaking well-clear of the chasing pack to set up a four-driver shootout over the final six races. Next time out is the New York City E-Prix on 16 and 17 July for Rounds 11 and 12 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. The much-anticipated double-header takes place on the streets of the Red Hook district of Brooklyn against the spectacular backdrop of the Manhattan skyline. Two more double-headers close out Season 8, with the London E-Prix weekend on 30 and 31 July before the championship climaxes with a first-visit to South Korea and the Seoul E-Prix weekend on 13 and 14 August. It looked like Edo had a little bit of an edge on us. I tried to keep it modest until the end. Other things like in the beginning and middle of race compromised my end. First podium of the season for me. It’s been a tough one. It’s been hard to kind of punch through the wall. The team has been great picking me up and still believing in me. So that’s awesome and thanks for them for giving me a great car today. We tried. In the end it looked like JEV didn’t quite have it and it compromised my race a little bit but it’s part of the game. The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship returns to Marrakesh this Saturday (2 July) for Round 10 in the 16-race season with four drivers pulling ahead in the battle for the Drivers’ title. Going into the Marrakesh E-Prix at the Circuit International Automobile Moulay El Hassan, Mercedes-EQ’s Stoffel Vandoorne leads the way in the Drivers’ World Championship with a five-point advantage over nearest challenger and double champion Jean-Éric Vergne (DS TECHEETAH). Edoardo Mortara (ROKiT Venturi Racing) is just two points back in third place while Mitch Evans (Jaguar TCS Racing), who won last time out in Jakarta, sits fourth but is just 12 points back from the standings lead. With a maximum of 29 points on offer in Marrakesh, any one of those four drivers could lead the championship come the chequered flag this Saturday. Evans’ win in Indonesia squeezed the margins splitting the top four, with Mortara and Vergne also making the podium last time around to pile the pressure on points pacesetter Vandoorne. [2022年6月26日，香港]: 2020年東京奧運會香港男子花劍代表張小倫、以及香港精英欖球運動員莊嘉欣、李卡度和姚錦成，今天一同出席於樂富廣場舉行的「香港體育學院30週年巡迴展」第三站之精英運動員分享會。 體院為慶祝成立30週年，特別舉辦為期六星期的巡迴互動展覽，最後一站的巡迴展由今日起至7月3日於樂富廣場舉行，市民可到場參觀體院成立至今的發展歷程，並透過不同展品和互動遊戲了解體院的工作及一睹過去30年香港精英運動員的卓越成就。 作為劍擊隊「大師兄」的張小倫，曾積極爭取2012年倫敦奧運及2016年里約奧運的入場券，可惜兩度與奧運擦肩而過，令他一度萌生退意。不過，憑著運動員的堅毅、並在教練的鼓勵及體院的支持下，他終於如願以償，取得東奧男子花劍個人賽和團體賽的資格。 他說：「當了全職運動員至今已達17年，我的青春都離不開體院。這些年來，我見證著體院無論在硬件或軟件配套上，都有很大的進步。時至今日，香港運動員在國際體壇的競爭力與日俱增，就如去年的東京奧運，香港隊創下歷史佳績，可見體院的支援對提升運動員的表現，絕對影響深遠。」 其實體院的發展歷程就像我的征奧之路 ─ 全憑堅定不移的意志和勇氣，以及一支全程投入的團隊支持，我才能取得東奧的參賽資格，實現夢想。儘管如此，此刻的我亦未言退，希望奮戰至2024年巴黎奧運，或以『大師兄』身份協助隊友成長，再為香港體壇寫下新的一章。」 而作為精英運動員，需要長期應付高強度的訓練，難免遇到傷患。張小倫上月出戰南韓花劍大獎賽時，左腳的阿基里士腱不慎斷裂，無奈放棄出戰亞錦賽及世錦賽的機會，但心繫劍擊隊的他，看到隊友們取得佳績，亦與有榮焉。 已回港完成手術、正進行康復治療的張小倫表示：「對運動員來說，受傷固然令人感到沮喪和不安，但傷患是運動生涯的一部分，我很慶幸在體院醫療團隊的幫助及細心照料下，康復進展順利。我期待下季可以復出，協助花劍隊衝擊亞運，甚至是2024年巴黎奧運會。」 另一邊廂，香港精英欖球運動員莊嘉欣、李卡度及姚錦成，早前暫別香港兩個月，剛從歐洲回港，完成隔離後便隨即參加今天的分享會。在今次寓賽於操的旅程中，香港男、女子七人欖球隊共參加了三個國際賽事，其中男子隊在這三個賽事中都能成功闖入決賽，勇奪1金2銀的佳績，而女子隊則贏得1銀2銅。 回顧2018年的亞運會，港隊取得香港首面團體運動項目的金牌，資歷最深的姚錦成表示，全賴體院為欖球運動員提供優質的訓練環境，他說：「體院對運動員的支援，並不限於技術訓練；除了教練團隊及訓練設施，背後更有專業的運動科學團隊，照顧運動員在生理和心理上的需要，成功讓我們登上亞運的頒獎台。」 而另一位主將李卡度則認為，自七人欖球成為體院的「A 級」精英運動項目後，不但大大提高本港的欖球水平，也令這項運動變得更普及。他指出：「體院為全職運動員提供多方面的支援，除了在運動表現的培訓外，也顧及教育、社交、個人發展等各個範疇，有助吸納更多具潛質的年輕球員加入，令球隊日益壯大，有利在國際賽事爭取佳績。」 欖球女將莊嘉欣亦深表認同，她謂：「我遇過不少女運動員，都被體院對全職運動員的支援吸引，而考慮成為全職運動員，或選擇留港為港隊效力。亦因如此，每位球員都必須保持競爭力才可繼續留在體院接受精英培訓；在這種良性競爭的環境下，球隊的實力不斷提升，時常保持最佳狀態代表香港出戰。」 為期六週的巡迴展是體院30週年慶祝活動的亮點之一，它既是一個流動博物館，也是一個運動訓練場和遊樂場。場內設有不同打卡位、互動遊戲和展品，包括劍擊運動員張家朗、江旻憓、崔浩然和余翠怡出戰各個國際大賽中所用過的裝備。歡迎一家大小和熱愛運動的人士到場參觀及體驗，入場觀眾更有機會獲得體院30週年限量紀念品。 Information and photo source : Elite Step Asia

Long-term partnership will see FIVB and Volleyball World invest significantly to further professionalise and grow the sport in Asia The FIVB and Volleyball World today signed a landmark agreement with the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) to explore and enhance the commercial potential of senior international volleyball and beach volleyball events in Asia, as well as focusing on the growth of the sport and empowerment of National Federations, events and athletes. Under the nine-year deal which will run from 2024-2032, Volleyball World will look to maximise the commercial potential of AVC senior international events to secure the growth of the sport and its sustainability in Asia to serve millions of fans across the entire region. This includes, but is not limited to, the men’s and women’s AVC Asian Continental Championships, AVC Asian Club Continental Championships, AVC Asian Beach Volleyball Championships and AVC Asian Cup. The partnership will see Volleyball World directly invest into the AVC for commercial rights, while the FIVB will increase its investment into the AVC’s 65 National Federations through the revolutionary Volleyball Empowerment programme which is aimed at the development of national teams around the world. The landmark partnership will also see investment into dedicated human resources in the areas of commercial, development, marketing and operations working within the AVC to further professionalise the administration of the sport. FIVB President Dr Ary S. Graça F° said: “We are delighted to announce this landmark, three-party partnership between the FIVB, Volleyball World and the AVC. We will work hand in hand to secure the financial stability and sustainability of the Continental Confederation while providing the opportunities and resources to further boost the sport in Asia. “Volleyball has a longstanding and successful history in Asia but now, under the leadership of AVC President Rita Subowo and with the approval of the AVC Board of Administration, we have an opportunity to enter a new and brighter chapter for our sport.” AVC President Rita Subowo said: “This partnership is the result of a well-established relationship between the FIVB, Volleyball World and the AVC, underscoring our joint commitment to realising the sport’s full potential in Asia. “With 65 National Federations in Asia, I have no doubt this agreement will help expand the commercial opportunities for AVC senior international events, accelerate our growth and increase revenues across the commercial areas of media, sponsorship and bidding.” Volleyball World CEO Finn Taylor said: “This landmark partnership with the AVC is a symbol of volleyball’s continued growth and global appeal. Over half of the world’s volleyball fans are in Asia, and we are excited to have an opportunity to further enhance the sport in such a key region. “Broadcast and digital engagement is at a record high for the sport and the AVC will be able to access and integrate into Volleyball World’s world-class digital infrastructure, ensuring broader media distribution by making content and events accessible on our TV and digital platforms.” The signing took place at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, the venue of the Volleyball Nations League (VNL) 2022 pool in the Philippines.
