ROKiT Venturi Racing's Edoardo Mortara recorded the fastest time of the week during the final session at Circuit Ricardo Tormo, Valencia as the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship’s official pre-season test drew to a close. Mortara set a lap time of 1m25.763s mid-way through the session, besting the previous benchmark set by Mercedes-EQ Formula E's Stoffel Vandoorne on Tuesday by almost a second. DS TECHEETAH's double champion Jean-Éric Vergne placed the next best time of the week, just 0.041 seconds back, while another Mercedes-EQ powertrain closed out the top three times of the week, with Vandoorne’s Silver Arrow 02 also within a tenth of-a-second. A late lap from Jaguar TCS Racing’s Mitch Evans saw the Kiwi place fourth, and another last-minute effort from TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team's Pascal Wehrlein hurled the German up the order into fifth spot. Reigning champion Nyck de Vries followed next, with the Envision Racing pair of Nick Cassidy and Robin Frijns also within the 1m25s mark. The top 17 drivers recorded times faster than Antonio Félix da Costa’s pole position qualifying lap from last season. Over the week, ABB Formula E teams and drivers racked up more than 4,100 laps, totalling almost 14,000km of the Valencia circuit as the Season 8 ABB Formula E cars hit the track for their only test session. Season 8 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship will start in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia on 28 and 29 January 2022, as the first of 16 races in 12 locations including Jakarta, Vancouver, Mexico City and London before concluding in South Korea in August. Edoardo Mortara, ROKiT Venturi Racing, #48, said: "It’s always nice to top the timesheets for the week of testing and this is extremely positive. This season will see the debut of the BMW M4 GT3 in ACO racing with Walkenhorst Motorsport entering two of the new machines. There will be two McLaren 720S GT3, two Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO2s, three Mercedes AMG GT3s, four Porsche 911 GT3 Rs, six each of the Ferrari 488 GT3 and the Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3. 2021 GT Champions Herberth Motorsports are set to return with a three-car effort to defend their title, whilst GT3 Am Champions Rinaldi Racing will return with one GT3 entry and an LMP3 entry for the 2022 season. AF Corse will also return with three Ferrari 488 GT3s, whilst Kessel Racing will have two Ferraris. Inception Racing will return to the Series with their McLaren 720S GT3. TF Sport are also returning to the Series with a three-car Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 effort including the Oman Racing entry. Japanese team, D’station Racing will be back with their Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 with support from TF Sport, just as they did in the FIA WEC this season. After making their debut in the Asian Le Mans Series last season, Garage 59 will return with a pair of Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3s. Optimum Motorsport will also return to the Series, running two separate McLaren 720S GT3 entries, with one under the Inception Racing banner and the other, Optimum Motorsport. Prototypes: There will be many familiar prototypes on the grid with longstanding team ARC Bratislava returning this season in the LMP2 class. GRAFF Racing will be back with a two-car effort, one entry in both LMP2 and LMP3. 2019/2020 LMP3 Champions and 2021 Vice Champions Nielsen Racing are returning with a two-car effort including an LMP3 and an LMP2 – the first time the team has raced an LMP2 in a full season. The team has previously only raced an LMP2 in the 24 Hours of Le Mans after winning and invitation to race there following their Championship win. Joining them in LMP3 will be CD Sport and DKR Engineering who both return after making their debut last season. After missing last season, our 2018/2019 LMP3 Champions Inter Europol Competition will also re-join the Series after missing the 2021 season, this time they will enter one LMP3. New Teams: This season will see no fewer than nine teams making their debut in the Asian Le Mans Series. There will be two Asian teams making their debut with the Series in the GT class this season. YC Panda Racing from China have entered two Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO2s, and Envisu Racing from Hong Kong have entered an Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3. Competing for LMP2 Am honours will be High Class Racing. The Danish team announced last week they will enter an Oreca 07-Gibson and Anders Fjordbach, Dennis Andersen and Kevin Weeda behind the wheel. In LMP3 BHK Motorsport, Konrad Motorsport and Koiranen Kemppi Motorsport will make their Asian Le Mans Series debut. SPS Automotive Performance will also make their debut in the Series, entering two Mercedes AMG GT3s. They will be joined on the grid by fellow German team, the Haupt Racing Team, who will also join the Series for the first time with a Mercedes AMG GT3. UAE based S’aalocin by Kox Racing will make their debut in a Porsche 911 GT3 R. Unique format: After a hugely successful 2021 Asian Le Mans Series, the Series will return to the UAE for the 2022 season. It will again be contested in an intense two-week period, with all four races being held between the 11th and the 20th of February. Monaco, 30 November 2021 – Max Biaggi and the electric motorcycle constructor Voxan broke 21 world speed records at Space Florida’s Launch and Landing Facility, at Kennedy Space Center (United States). The new records were set between 18 and 23 November 2021. On Monday 22 November, the most coveted of all the world records targeted in Florida was beaten. With a speed of 455.737 km/h (283.182 mph), Max Biaggi and the Voxan Wattman claimed the prestigious world record in the ‘partially streamlined electric motorcycle under 300 kg’ class. In line with FIM (Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme) regulations, the Voxan Wattman’s speed was measured from a flying start over 1 km in opposite directions, within a period of two hours. Under Federation rules, the final speed is the average of the two speeds recorded over these two runs. The Wattman’s GPS speedometer recorded a maximum instantaneous speed of 470.257 km/h (292.204 mph). The Voxan machine, designed by Sacha Lakic, set the stopwatch alight with a blistering performance. On Sunday 21 November, a non-streamlined version of the Voxan Wattman without its fairing also took on the challenge over a distance of 1 km, from a flying start. The principle was identical: 1 km in opposite directions, within a period of two hours. Once again, the final speed was the average of the two speeds recorded over these two runs. The new world record in the ‘non-streamlined electric motorcycle under 300 kg’ class is now 369.626 km/h (229.675 mph). Gildo Pastor’s team had a number of other world records in their sights. The Gen3 was described by FIA President Jean Todt as: “a machine created at the intersection of high performance, efficiency and sustainability.” The Gen3 was presented under top-security conditions to an exclusive group of Formula E manufacturers, teams, drivers and partners in Valencia, Spain, where pre-season testing is underway for Season 8 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, which begins in January. While Formula E manufacturers are set to take delivery of Gen3 cars in spring 2022 following further intensive development testing on and off the track, the briefing in Valencia disclosed a series of design, performance and sustainability innovations in the Gen3 car: * The world’s most efficient racing car – at least 40% of the energy used within a race will be produced by regenerative braking during the race. * The first formula car with both front and rear powertrains: a new front powertrain adds 250kW to the 350kW at the rear, more than doubling the regenerative capability of the current Gen2 to a total of 600kW. * The first formula car that will not feature rear hydraulic brakes due to the addition of the front powertrain and its regenerative capability. * An electric motor delivering up to 350kw of power (470BHP), capable of a top speed of 200mph (320km/h), with a power-to-weight ratio that is twice as efficient as an equivalent 470BHP internal combustion engine (ICE). * Lighter and smaller than the Gen2 to enable faster, more agile wheel-to-wheel racing. 【香港，2021年11月26日】由香港賽馬會慈善信託基金捐助，位於香港銅鑼灣加路連山道的南華體育會-賽馬會運動場（下稱「運動場」）今日隆重開幕。開幕典禮由香港特別行政區行政長官林鄭月娥女士、香港特別行政區民政事務局局長徐英偉先生、香港賽馬會主席陳南祿先生、香港賽馬會行政總裁應家柏先生、南華體育會主席許晉奎先生、南華體育會會長余潤興先生及南華體育會賽馬會撥款項目委員會副主委盧潤森先生親臨主禮，一同見證南華會邁向新的里程碑。 是次重建項目由2012年開始動工，將原有看台改建成多用途綜合運動場，重建計劃包括率先於2015年優化完成之高爾夫球練習場（命名為南華體育會 - 賽馬會高爾夫球練習場）、及於2020年相繼落成之一千座位有蓋看台、有蓋網球場、有蓋沙灘球場、空中環形緩跑徑、以及符合國際足協及國際欖球協會認可之仿真草球場。翻新工程由香港賽馬會慈善信託基金捐助逾一億七千萬港元，不僅為市民和社區帶來更先進及更多元化的康體設施，更能幫助紓緩巿民以相宜價錢租用巿區內的球場及有蓋體育設施的熱切需求，惠及廣大市民及南華會會員。 南華體育會主席許晉奎先生感謝香港賽馬會慈善信託基金鼎力支持，並表示：「作為香港其中一所最具規模、最歷史悠久及服務逾75,000名會員的體育會，南華體育會一直秉承『提倡體育』的使命。重建後的運動場將為社區以至全港帶來新設施、新氣象，為普羅大眾提供更多優質又相宜的康體服務。未來南華會希望與更多志同道合的機構攜手合作，吸引更多市民投入運動，持續為香港推廣全民體育，繼續履行南華體育會的百年使命。」 香港賽馬會主席陳南祿先生表示：「馬會與南華會立足香港超過一個世紀，一直不遺餘力支持香港的體育運動。馬會很樂意支持南華會這次的重建項目，這亦跟馬會推動『健康社區』的策略重點一致。過去十年，馬會慈善信託基金已撥款超過30億港元支持體育發展，因為我們相信運動不但有益身心，亦能強化個人的抗逆能力。」除了在社區推廣運動，馬會亦大力推動精英運動的發展，包括早前以對等配對形式撥款1.5億元，與特區政府設立「運動科研資助計劃」，希望透過提升運動科學設備及器材、改善運動醫學，協助香港運動員備戰未來不同賽事。 香港特別行政區行政長官林鄭月娥女士表示：「南華體育會發展多個體育設施，包括過去的北角泳場、京士柏網球場、加路連山運動場館、多用途的體育大廈、保齡球場館，以至今天的南華體育會-賽馬會運動場。南華體育會又提供多元化的訓練班，涵蓋各個體育項目，既推動市民無論男女老幼一同參與體育活動，鍛鍊強健體魄，亦從中選拔和培訓具潛質的年輕運動員，造就他們成為香港的體壇生力軍。我期望南華體育會和其他體育機構未來繼續和政府攜手，一同提升香港的體育文化及運動風氣。」 剛於第十四屆全運會，以及2018亞運為香港出賽的沙灘排球隊成員徐錦龍說：「對運動員來說，能夠有一個交通便利，設備優良的場地，對我們的日常訓練非常重要。感謝香港賽馬會的慷慨支持和捐助，讓我們可以在一個位於市區、符合比賽標準，而且設施先進的沙地場地進行練習，使我們的訓練更加方便及有效率。有這樣優良的設施，讓我更有信心日後可以繼續為港爭光！」 作為區內扎根已久的持份者之一，南華會非常重視設施重建期間的環境保護，希望減低對社區環境的影響，因此重建項目及設施保養均全方位引入可持續元素，不論於前期拆卸、規劃、設計、施工至調試階段均引入環保考量，致力減低對環境的影響，項目更符合香港綠色建築議會綠建環評新建建築銅級認證。全新的運動場，將配合南華會網上訂場及報名系統，融合科技及體育設施，加強與社區組織合作，尋求在地區層面發展基層體育活動，建立並凝聚和諧共融的運動社區。 資料及相片來源 : 動力國際 / 南華體育會
