PATTAYA Thailand, February 24: The Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific championship has been rescheduled to take place from 7-10 October 2020 at the Siam Country Club Waterside, Pattaya, Thailand. The championship was postponed due to issues related to the Coronavirus and to ensure the safety and welfare of all players, officials and others attending the championship. The R&A and the Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation have worked to secure a new date for the championship. Martin Slumbers, Chief Executive of The R&A, said, “The Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific has established itself as the leading women’s amateur golf championship in the region. It develops local talent and provides a pathway for elite amateurs to emerge onto the world stage and we believe it is important this opportunity is provided in 2020. “We will continue to monitor the situation and liaise with the authorities to ensure we can stage the championship safely in October. We are looking forward to a successful week of golf and crowning the 2020 champion.” Tanes Petsuwan, Deputy Governor for Marketing Communications for the Tourism Authority of Thailand added, “We look forward to welcoming the leading 80 amateur golfers from 19 Asia-Pacific nations to Thailand in October for the Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific. 2019/2020 Asian Le Mans Series Champions LMP2 – #26 G-Drive Racing by Algarve Aurus 01  The LMP2 Championship battle came down to the last minutes of the 4 Hours of Buriram with G-Drive Racing by Algarve locked in a fierce battle on track with Thunderhead Carlin Racing. Second place for the #26 in Buriram, along with race wins in the opening two rounds of the season and third place in Sepang was enough to secure the team Championship. As their driver line up was unchanged throughout the season, the three drivers, Roman Rusinov, James French and Leonard Hoogenboom were joint Drivers Champions. LMP2 Am – #52 Rick Ware Racing Ligier JS P2  Rick Ware Racing faced a tough start to the debut Asian Le Mans Series season when their containers were delayed shipping, arriving at the opening round of the Championship the day before the race. They bounced back in the best way possible with victory in round two of the Championship and never looked back! The #52 entry also won the third round and finished second in the final round. Cody Ware raced in the #52 for the entire season and therefore claimed the victory in the LMP2 Am Drivers Championship. LMP3 – #2 Nielsen Racing Norma M30  After finishing 3rd in the 2018/2019 season, Nielsen Racing, along with drivers Tony Wells and Colin Noble had unfinished business Asian Le Mans Series. While they did not have everything their own way, hard work and consistency saw them win one race, finish second in two and fourth in another. Colin Noble also claimed two pole positions for the #2 demonstrating that they had the speed as well. Colin and Tony were joint LMP3 Drivers Champions.  GT – #27 HubAuto Corsa Ferrari 488 GT3  In one of the closest title battles the Series has ever seen, there was still six entries in contention for the Class Championship going in to the final round. After facing a few issues in earlier races, HubAuto Corsa claimed a dominant victory in the final round of the season to win the GT class. The team also secured two pole positions and two second place finishes during the season.  Marcos Gomes was the only driver to race in every round in the #27 so claimed the title of GT Driver Champion.  Not only have these four teams won their Class Championships, they have also received an invitation to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June this year. The full entry list for the 24 Hours of Le Mans will be released by the by the Automobile Club de l’Ouest on Friday the 28th February 2020. At the awards ceremony, the Asian Le Mans Series also presented a number of special awards.  Rookie of the Year – Gustas Grinbergas The Rookie of the Year trophy was awarded to the youngest competitor on the grid, who despite being just 16 years old impressed the Series Organisers on and off the track. His professionalism off track and his performance and talent on track were highly regarded by all.  Person of the Year – Shaun Thong  Debuting in the Asian Le Mans Series at just 17 years of age (in 2013), Shaun ran in LMP3 in the 2017/2018 Season with the Taiwan Beer GH Motorsport team. This season he has made the step up the ACO ladder in Asia to the LMP2 class and has performed exceptionally. Racing with the first LMP2 team to come from Japan, he has played a large part in their successful debut season in the Class. Of particular note was the role he played in the team scoring a podium finish in the 4 Hours of Buriram. Team of The Year – Thunderhead Carlin Racing Making their debut in prototype racing in 2019 the team made their mark on the Asian Le Mans Series this season. - Formula E and FIA decide to freeze races for two-month period, considering challenge the current health crisis poses to the organisation of events in city-centres - Decision to temporarily suspend season taken as most responsible course of action to protect championship workforce against continued spread of COVID-19 Series introduces red, yellow and green flag-based system to determine different phases and time windows to restart season and evaluate rearranging races LONDON, UK (March 13, 2020) - Formula E and the FIA have announced that the 2019/20 season will be temporarily suspended for a two-month period, considering the challenge the current health crisis poses to the organisation of events in city-centres. The decision, made in coordination with the relevant local authorities to temporarily freeze races held in highly-populated cities, was taken as the most responsible course of action, due to the continued spread of coronavirus and the World Health Organisation officially declaring COVID-19 a pandemic.With the well-being of staff, spectators and the entire championship workforce being the number one priority, precautionary measures put in place will restrict races from running during a set timeframe. The series is implementing a flag system traditionally used in motorsport, to determine different phases and time windows where races could be rearranged or remain unaffected. Red representing no races, yellow keeping the opportunity open and green going ahead as planned. Months marked as red flags are March and April, with May currently categorised as a yellow flag and both June and July given the green flag, should the situation improve and stabilise.As a consequence of the suspension, it will no longer be possible to race in Paris and Seoul, or Jakarta as previously announced on the originally scheduled dates.Working in collaboration with the FIA and local authorities in each event location, Formula E will closely monitor the situation and evaluate options to organise and reschedule races following the temporary suspension. FORMULA E, FIA AND ALL TEAMS AND MANUFACTURERS AGREE ON COST SAVING MEASURES AMID GLOBAL CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC - Unanimous support from teams and manufacturers for cost saving measures to promote long-term financial stability of championship amid global coronavirus pandemic - Formula E, the FIA and all teams and manufacturers collectively agree to delay the launch of the Gen2 EVO car until 2021/22 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship - Changes to the technical regulations will cut development costs over the next two seasons in half with manufacturers limited to a single car homologation PARIS, FRANCE (April 9, 2020) - Formula E and the FIA have today confirmed that the championship will reduce the financial burden on its teams amid the global health crisis by lowering development costs. As part of the plans to reduce costs, Formula E, the FIA, the teams and manufacturers unanimously agreed to postpone the launch of the Gen2 EVO car until the 2021/22 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. Following an e-vote, the FIA World Motor Sport Council (WMSC) ratified the decision to extend the homologation period, with manufacturers only able to alter powertrain components once over the next two seasons. Teams can either introduce a new car in season seven, for a two-year cycle, or continue to use existing technology for the next season before homologating a new car the year after for a single season. After discussion with manufacturers, the changes to the technical regulations have been made with the long-term financial stability of championship participants in mind. Formula E and the FIA have taken a flexible and collaborative approach to decreasing spending, which will see car development costs cut by half over the next two seasons. In addition to supporting its immediate community, Formula E is committed to finding more ways to fight the global health crisis and help others affected by the spread of coronavirus.
