[2020年11月24日，香港] 香港欖球總會(欖總)公佈歷來最全面分析香港欖球界生態的「本地欖球參與度調查報告」。在欖總超級聯賽主要合作伙伴畢馬威會計師事務所(畢馬威)支持下，是次調查經歷上年多番阻滯下終於完成，亦是歷來對欖球界最全面的數據分析。 欖總藉疫情大流行而要休養生息的契機來展開是次調查，調查的目的是更好地量化參與人口，以及更暸解影響球員參與度和留存率的原因。 調查結果具啟示性和令人鼓舞，亦證明欖總反映廣泛社區和為球員提供了可量化的社交和個人益處。數字上顯示平均參與者以華人為主（佔參加人數54%），大部人居於新界區，參與欖球主要原因是健康、體魄和友誼。 欖總主席唐諾生(Patrick Donovan)表示:「我們很感激畢馬威的鼎力支持，還有欖球界的投入參與，讓我們更了解及照顧業界所需。調查結果既驚且喜，這些是我們加倍努力向全港推廣欖球價值的重要資產。」 「今次調查並非紙上談兵，我們希望更深入了解參加和持續參與欖球的原動力。畢馬威的專長幫助我們找出一些需要正視和解決的領域及問題，還找出正浮現和逐漸成型的隱憂，來為未來好好籌謀。」 本地欖球歷來最大型調查 今次調查成功訪問了來自98個持份者團體和10個工作坊逾12,500名人士，受訪者牽涉層面廣而深，超過 73% 為成人欖球員、逾40% 青年球員和30% 小型欖球家庭參與。 畢馬威中國香港諮詢服務主管合夥人詹美臣說:「畢馬威很榮幸能協助欖總完成這歷來最大型欖球調查。畢馬威一直以來擁抱欖球的共同價值觀。這調查的反應熱烈，我們與欖總已將這些具意義的調查結果化為實際行動。畢馬威期待今年「畢馬威女子欖球超級聯賽」的伙伴合作不停步。」 香港欖球界的11,026名4至40歲以上成員橫跨小型欖球、青少年、學界、大專和成人組，是僅次於籃球和足球全港參與人數第3多的團體運動。小型和初階欖球有逾6,000參加者，佔了大部份參與人口。 本地欖球參與者來自五湖四海，每星期都有51個不同國藉的人士參與其中，而當中大部份是華人。 女子欖球成増長動力 調查結果揭示了女子欖球潛力無限，亦是本地欖球增長最快的範圍之一。女子球員佔整體人數28% ， 參加成人組的達45%，而香港總人口中 53%為女性。 雖然女子小型欖球是混合性別和以非接觸式為主，而青少年組別的女性少於25%， 欖總女子欖球董事兼畢馬威中國全球房地產和建築行業總監簡家琪認為女子欖球的前途一片光明。 她說:「女性參加人數增長迅速，香港隊在2017年首次晉身『世界盃』決賽週大大提昇了女子欖球的知名度。過去幾季的成人組別女性人數也錄得增長，亦為廣泛女性運動界帶來標誌性影響。除著投放更多針對性資源，我們相信女子欖球參與度在未來幾季將有可觀增幅。」 女子大專欖球界人數有34%增長，這仍有很多增長空間，並證實年女性青少年參與運動有很多益處，大量研究亦指出參與運動的女性有更強的自尊和自信、更高的升學率率和更低的意外懷孕率。 調查結果有助欖總應對全球欖球人數下降的趨勢、了解阻礙本地欖球入門和流失的原因。 這調查還找出流失因素、由小型欖球進階至青少年組及成人組的高流失期 。8歲以下組別的流失率達45% ， 61%的12歲以下組別參加者未有繼續參加青少年或學界欖球。 傾向選擇業餘欖球屬人之常情，數據亦指出19歲以下組別進階至成人組是關鍵期，當中60%的球員未有再進一步參與成人欖球，這是欖總符合國際欖球理事會和奧運的代表隊資格要求的迫切問題。 欖總早已著手解決這問題。青訓計劃和開拓更多引入符合港隊資格人才的渠道已初見成效，一班19歲以下代表拔尖至成人組甚至大港隊，如蔡健燊、郭柏雅、艾迪亞(Paul Altier)、史圖戴爾(Hugo Stiles)、馬克高貝治(Mark Coebergh)、靴貝特(Liam Herbert) 和丹馬克(Max Denmark)等。 這成效顯著的針對性措施可供日後類似的政策借鏡。欖總有望從這獲畢馬威和各層面受訪者大力支持的全面性調查中，構建出全球欖球人數下滑問題的對策。 參與動力 成功關鍵在於巧妙地利用每個層面的參與因素。這調查指出入門各賽事或年齡組別的主要原因，部份答案令人鼓舞、具啟發性和回響。 追求和改善健康及體魄是最大原因，交朋結友和欖球價值也為欖球運動帶來新血。 欖總所預計的流失原因與調查結果不謀而合。從小型欖球至大專欖球，專注學業和工作往往是離開欖球的主因，學生海外升學(19歲組別留存率)對青少年組影響甚大。 受傷風險和體魄要求也是成人球員退役的原因，亦很多人在31歲以後因家庭和工作關係而離欖球而去。 調查也反映外藉人士與本地華人參加原因的差異。本地華人以挑戰自己為主，大專界的主因是嘗試新挑戰，年青華人參與者也有近似傾向，當中受訪者華人和外藉人士以此為主因的比例分別是80% 和52% 。 89% 的受訪成年女性球員中也有類似的原因，反而受訪成年男性球員只有56% 因此而坐言起行。 這些因素鞏固了欖球運動對自身和廣大社區的正面影響。 Information and photo source : Elite Step Asia / HKRU

After unveiling Alexander Sims in August, the team is delighted to confirm Alex Lynn as his team-mate, who raced for Mahindra in the Season Six Finale in Berlin. The 27-year-old is a proven winner, with highlights including the 2014 GP3 Series crown, and victories in prestigious events including the Macau Grand Prix, Sebring 12 Hours and Le Mans 24 Hours. He is a multiple race winner in the GP2 series and has Formula E experience, having competed in a total of 27 races, with his best result coming in Berlin earlier this year. Part of the team since Season 2, Nick Heidfeld remains an integral part of the Mahindra Racing family and continues in his role as official test and reserve driver and special advisor. Today also saw the M7Electro unveiled. This season’s race car retains its striking colour scheme of red, white and blue, but with an all-new electrifying livery design. To underpin the team’s sustainability credentials, the M7Electro was photographed in a forest location. Ahead of Season 6, Mahindra Racing announced a long-term technology partnership with ZF Friedrichshafen AG. Underneath the cover of the M7Electro is the first ZF developed powertrain; the integrated team of Mahindra Racing and ZF engineers have worked tirelessly to produce a competitive new package for the season, despite the challenging circumstances that 2020 has brought. Also new for Season 7 is a technical innovation for the M7Electro’s transmission system, in conjunction with team partner Shell. 2020年11月23日 ─ 香港隊棍網球隊新任主教練Mr. Chadwick David Fairfoull在今年3月來港上任，但因為疫情影響，10月才親身見面領導香港隊球員練習。Coach Fairfoull上任之後的其中一項任務，正是來年的男子U20世界錦標賽，近期他親自監督U20隊伍訓練，並且有一連串計劃讓球員在面對疫情的困難環境下，能夠繼續提升狀態及水平。 香港男、女子代表隊將在2021年出戰三大賽事，包括4月的男子世界錦標賽外圍賽、7月的女子世界錦標賽及6月的男子U20世界錦標賽。其中，男子U20世界錦標賽將在愛爾蘭利默里克(Limerick)舉行，暫定有20支不同國家及地區的隊伍參加。 香港棍網球總會在今年請來加拿大籍新任主教練Chadwick David Fairfoull執教，這位加拿大教練擁有30多年的教學經驗，在加拿大的室內棍網球和草地棍網球比賽中4次被授予年度最佳教練獎，實力受到外界肯定。問及為何Coach Fairfoull會毅然東來香港執教，他接受訪問時解釋說：「自己在加拿大執教多年，過去5年在美國工作，偶然間收到來自香港的聘約，和妻子商量過後決定前來一試，沒有記錯這件事剛好發生在上年聖誕節期間。」 Coach Fairfoull離開美國校園的執教生活，今年3月抵港，由於他以前從未到過香港甚至亞洲，今次前來絕對是全新體驗。來港之後，他發現香港球員的水平比他想像中更好：「香港棍網球隊成員多數是大學才開始練習，但水平比我想像中更高。一班香港隊球員有兩樣好處，一是很有慾望去學習新事物，二是對於這項運動很投入，無論是個人或是團隊層面都有上進心。同時，一班球員的IQ很高，閱讀球賽能力很強。」 香港U20隊伍在周日早上抽空在中山紀念公園足球場訓練及進行男子超級聯賽，烈日當空下全情投入，Coach Fairfoull除了落場指導香港隊之外，還利用攝錄機拍下片段再分析檢討。Coach Fairfoull說，3月來港時疫情嚴重，大大影響了他的部署：「一開始來港時根本不能一班人練習，只能夠找幾個球員一起練傳波，還有安排網上課程讓他們跟進。我也安排了不同球隊的比賽片段，讓大家了解外面球隊的打法如何。」 疫情稍微好轉之後，Coach Fairfoull便安排香港U20隊伍練習，他介紹現時U20隊伍的情況時表示：「我們現時有38人在訓練名單之中，到最後會選擇26人明年6月去愛爾蘭參賽。暫時未訂下參賽目標及決定最終球員名單的日期，一切要看球隊進度而定。」目前U20隊伍每星期最少有一課練習及一次比賽，同時每星期兩次健身，盡量做到一周4次訓練，讓球員有充份準備迎戰U20世錦賽。Coach Fairfoull續指，他理想中的情況是未來6個月安排友賽外隊，具體情況仍然要隨機應變。 這位加拿大人續指，目前U20隊伍中有3至5人是有潛質升上一隊，然後參加男子世界錦標賽外圍賽。這項賽事是4月在新西蘭舉行，但也有可能因為疫情延至10月。除了專注香港隊及U20隊伍之外，Coach Fairfoull也不忘培育年青新一代，將會落力推廣棍網球培訓計劃(Development Academy Program) ，幫助小孩盡早接觸棍網球。 香港隊隊長兼U20助教麥浩駿表示，這個計劃年齡層是由8歲開始，歡迎在此或以上不同年齡人士參加。Coach Fairfoull介紹道：「如果想提升這項運動的水平，最好是早一點讓小孩去打棍網球，讓他們感受箇中樂趣，我從前在加拿大都是這樣一邊玩樂、一邊成長。」 資料及相片來源 : N Square / 香港棍網球總會

26 November 2020 Melvin Moh closes championship gap to 7 points after damage limitation Kevin Tse retains lead in Real-AM title chase after 2nd place finish at Spa GT World Challenge Asia Esports Championship The penultimate round of the 2020 GT World Challenge Asia Esports Championship at Spa Francorchamps saw Craft-Bamboo Racing’s title battle heat up in the Real-Pro and Real-Am categories. Melvin Moh had a great comeback drive after being taken out early on by a backmarker, and closed the gap to just 7 points. In the Real-Am class, Kevin Tse retained his championship lead by taking his 4th podium in a row. The Real-PRO class was full of drama right on the first lap, with Melvin Moh in the #7 Motul Mercedes-AMG GT3 starting on the front row. Moh was right in the mix as the three title contenders diced for position, but halfway around the opening lap, the championship leader disconnected, presenting a great opportunity for Moh to score maximum points. However, as the Motul driver came up to lap a back-marker several laps later, there was unfortunate contact and Moh dropped down the order to 9th position. Moh got his head down and pushed hard for the remainder of the opening stint and made his mandatory pit-stop with 30 minutes to go. Moh was able to put in a strong second half of the race to recover to 5th place and closed the championship gap down to just 7 points with one final race to go. Matt Solomon, in the #36 Vita Juice Mercedes-AMG GT3 finished in 14th outright after unavoidable contact with a spinning car coming out of Eau Rouge took him out of contention. Darryl O’Young finished 29th in his #55 Vita VLT liveried Mercedes-AMG GT3. Fresh from his weekend at the Macau Grand Prix, O’Young got caught up in a lap 1 incident hitting a spinning car, forcing him to enter the pit for a lengthy repair. Alex Liang had a disappointing race after starting in 6th position, dropping down the order after contact and damage to his #99 Motul Mercedes-AMG GT3, and was unable to finish the race. Real-AM title leader Kevin Tse started from pole position in class with his main rival behind him. Tse, at the wheel of his #38 Motul Mercedes-AMG GT3, got a good start but relinquished the class lead during the opening lap exchange of positions. Several laps later however, Tse took the class lead back again after the leader was caught up in slower traffic. Tse drove a great stint, running as high as 4th outright before pitting with just 10 minutes to go. However as he emerged from the pits, the lead was lost as his title rival managed to undercut the strategy. He eventually crossed the line 2nd in class to take his fourth podium finish of the season out of four races, and retained his 13 point lead in the championship. In the Sim-PRO class, Motul driver Charles Theseira had a great race in tricky wet conditions and finished 7th overall, scoring his fourth points finish in a row. Craft-Bamboo Racing welcomed TCL as a sponsor for the remaining 2 races, with Mikko Nassi driving the #8 TCL #8 Mercedes-AMG GT3 entry in the Sim-PRO category. The Singaporean-based Finn drove a strong race in the red and white TCL-livered Mercedes and despite being this being his debut in the Sim-PRO class, showed signs of his strong pace and crossed the line in 11th. The title battles will go down to the wire at the final race of the 2020 GT World Challenge Asia Esports Championship at Suzuka, on the 8th of December. Melvin Moh will be gunning for top honours in the Real-PRO category, and Kevin Tse will be looking to end his strong first season on a high in the Real-AM class. My main rival, Billy Lo, was right behind me at the start but was able to get ahead. However he got tangled up whilst lapping traffic and the lead came back to me, giving me the championship lead! However after the pit-stops Billy was able to get ahead as I lost a bit of time in some on-track battles. Overall I had really good pace with a setup that worked well, and it was a solid race with no mistakes or crashes. I would have loved to seal the title at Spa, but we go to Suzuka with a 13 point lead.
