The Executive Committee has confirmed that the FIBA Americas Presidency shall be continued until the end of the 2023-2027 term by a consensus candidate coming from South America according to the applicable regulations, and has confirmed the following positions: Mr Ricardo Vairo (URU), currently Americas Vice-President representing South America, is the new FIBA Americas President and ex officio member of the FIBA Central Board. Mr Marcelo Sousa (BRA), currently Americas Board member, is the new Americas Vice-President representing South America. February 19, 2026 BEIRUT (Lebanon)- The FIBA Regional Office-Asia on Thursday February 19, 2026 has announced the 2025-26 season’s Final Phase schedules of FIBA West Asia Super League West Asia and Gulf Leagues. WASL Gulf The best-of-three Semi-Finals of the 2025-26-FIBA WASL Gulf League will tip off on March 9 with Saudi Arabia’s Ittihad Club taking on Kuwait Club in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in a rematch of last season's Qualification to Semi-Finals series, which the former swept 2-0. Ittihad were the first to reach the Semi-Finals this time after finishing atop Group A with a 5-1 record, and Kuwait Club would set up the meeting following a two-game sweep of Muharraq Club in the play-in round. Al Ula Club of Saudi Arabia and Qatar’s Al Arabi will start their series on March 10 in Medina, Saudi Arabia. Al Ula, booked a Semi-Finals ticket outright after clinching the top spot in Group B have 2-0 lead over Arabi this season, having won both the games in the Group Phase. The Final is scheduled for an April 14 tip-off, to be preceded by the Third-Place Game - featuring the losing sides from the Semi-Finals - on April 13. WASL West Asia Initially scheduled to open March 11, the 2025-26 FIBA WASL West Asia League’ s culminating event will now commence on March 25, beginning with the best-of-3 Semi-Finals. Four teams, namely Al Riyadi, BC Astana, Sagesse SC, and Shahrdari Gorgan, have already qualified, with their final seedings to be determined by the end of the Group Phase which will be on March 5. Under the new competition format, the no.1 team at the end of the preliminary round will face the fourth-ranked team in the Semi-Finals, with the other bracket to feature the teams finishing at second and third. The Final, which is also a best-of-3, will start on April 16, to be preceded by the Third-Place Game between the losing sides from the Semi-Finals. All series in the Final Phase of both Gulf and West Asia, barring the third place play-off will be played in a best-of-3 format. Zouk Mikayel to host postponed Sagesse-Gorgan game on March 5 The 2025-26 FIBA WASL West Asia League game between Sagesse SC of Lebanon and Shahrdari Gorgan of Iran, originally scheduled on Jan 7, 2026 will now be played on March 5, 2026. The game, which Gorgan were scheduled to host initially, will be played at the Nouhad Nawfal Sports Complex in Zouk Mikayel. This game will draw the curtains on the Group Phase of Sub-Zone League of the pan-regional competition before the top four teams of the Group Phase head into the Final Phase. February 18, 2026 BEIRUT (Lebanon)- The FIBA Regional Office-Asia on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 confirmed the teams that will participate in, and the schedule for, the 2026 season of BCL Asia-East, a FIBA owned league involving leading club teams representing the National Federations coming under the South East and East Asia sub-zones of FIBA Asia. The field for the third edition of the pioneering league, that qualifies teams from the region to the prestigious Basketball Champions League Asia, has a fair share of familiar faces who will lock horns with a bunch of newcomers. Action in Group A comprising teams from South East Asia Sub-Zone will tip off in Banten Indonesia on March 27 with Group B seeing first action in Hong Kong China on April 6. All games during the Group Phase will be played on the caravan model. The top three teams from each of the Groups will make their way to the BCL Asia-East 2026 Final 6, where they will be divided into two groups of three teams each with the top two advancing to the criss-cross Semi-Finals and then the Finals. Return of Hong Kong China The season will see the return of a team from Hong Kong China after a gap one year – in the form of South China, who won their 17th league title in the Hong Kong A1 Division Championship last year. Hong Kong Eastern had played in the inaugural edition two years ago. They will be joined by three teams who made it to the BCL Asia-East 2025 Final Four – reigning BCL Asia-East champions Ulaabaatar Xac Broncos of Mongolia along with the Chinese Taipei duo New Taipei Kings and Taoyuan Pauian Pilots – in Group B of the Group Phase for the BCL Asia-East 2026 season. Broncos, who come in with two back-to-back titles in the domestic league, had beaten Taoyuan Pauian in the BCL Asia-East 2025 Final game with the two finalists qualifying for BCL Asia 2025. Broncos even went on to return a historic third-place finish in the BCL Asia 2025. Dewa, Johor make their debut Group A for the BCL Asia-East 2026 will feature a bunch of fresh faces. Dewa United Banten make their BCL Asia-East 2026 debut – replacing Pelita Jaya as the Indonesia representative bringing to an end the latter’s rather impressive run in the first two years. Pelita Jaya were one of the two teams who qualified for BCL Asia – Malaysia’s NS Matrix Deers being the other – two seasons ago before finishing third last year. Malaysia too will see a new face representing in Johor Southern Tigers who won their maiden Major Basketball League title, having lost to NS Matrix in the Finals of the two successive prior seasons. FEBRUARY 12, 2026 BRNO (Czechia) - The path to the trophy for the FIBA U17 Women's Basketball World Cup 2026 has been determined as the groups for the eighth edition of the event were confirmed in Thursday's draw. The 16 teams were divided into four groups of four teams each. The results of the draw are as follows: Group A: Côte d’Ivoire, Australia, Latvia, USA Group B: Germany, Mexico, China, Spain Group C: Japan, Czechia, Slovenia, Colombia Group D: Egypt, Italy, Canada, New Zealand All 16 teams participating in the event will advance to the competition's Final Phase with a single-elimination format in place from the Round of 16 onwards. The teams from Group A will face teams from Group B, based on standings within these groups (1st vs 4th - 2nd vs 3rd) and teams from Group C will face teams from Group D. Defending champions USA have won six of the past seven FIBA U17 Women's World Cup editions, including the last three events in 2018, 2022 and 2024. Australia is the only other nation to have lifted the trophy, in 2016. The draw was performed by Czechia national team legend Hana Horakova and Czechia national team player Anezka Kopecka. [香港, 2026年2月12日] ： 中國香港欖球總會欣然宣布陳朗詩將就任「女子欖球發展主管」新職。她將負責培育及統籌球員融入本地欖球社群的完整路徑，以支援南豐集團 | AIRSIDE 超級欖球聯賽，以及中國香港女子15及七人欖球代表隊，並繼續發展她早前推行的「女子龍隊」項目。 陳朗詩在結束球員生涯後轉型成為教練，並獲頒中國香港欖球總會名人堂榮譽。她於2022至2024年間擔任女子 15人欖球隊主教練，其後出任女子欖球項目主管。在其領導下，球隊縱遺憾失落2025年女子欖球世界盃參賽資格，但成功晉級今年9月舉行的女子15人欖球全球系列賽。 中國香港欖球總會本地欖球執行董事Dean McLachan歡迎亦期待陳朗詩履行新職務，他表示：「陳朗詩一直盡心奉獻於香港欖球運動，影響無數現役及退役球員的生涯，更是眾多年輕女子運動員投身欖球的榜樣。我們相信她將成為許多女子教練的重要導師，助她們成長並為欖球運動作出更多貢獻。」 「我們認為這個職位非常適合陳朗詩，能讓她充分發揮在欖球界的豐富經驗及卓越的項目領導能力，並在我們青少年、大專和成人球員發展項目中擔當核心角色，發掘及培育下一代人才。」 陳朗詩的新職務與中國香港欖球總會的多項策略目標吻合，包括實現男、女子參與人數比例達40/60、消弭女子欖球發展的系統性障礙，以及將女子欖球全面融入香港欖球總會的區域中心發展模型。 陳朗詩期待履新，她表示：「擔任這項職務將讓我有機會從策略層面，審視女子欖球的完整發展歷程—— 從她們在學校和球會開始接受欖球運動，到最終穿上中國香港代表隊球衣，我的工作就是運用自身運動背景和經驗，制定清晰且具意義的訓練計劃和比賽日程，讓球員能定期檢視實力，並能在球場內外全面成長。」 「無論是七人或15人隊，香港女子欖球的組成一直以香港本土球員佔絕大多數，我為女子欖球發展至今的成就感到驕傲。我現在的使命是持續鞏固及拓展路徑，讓每一位有志為港隊效力的球員——無論是土生土長，或選擇在此安家落戶的球員——都能在我們的球會及代表隊體系中，看見屬於自己的未來。」  她續指：「香港的欖球社群很特別，我希望透過鞏固發展體系及對女子欖球運動的持續投入，能夠吸引和激勵更多來自不同背景的球員，加入本地聯賽，最終代表中國香港出賽，留下屬於她們的印記。」 陳朗詩曾代表中國香港出戰多項15人和七人欖球國際賽事。她與隊友共同創造歷史，成為首支獲得15人欖球世界盃參賽資格的中國香港隊伍，在2017年假愛爾蘭舉行的女子欖球世界盃登場。在七人欖球方面，她於2005年至2015年間，正值香港本地女子欖球發展的開拓時期，參與不少於十屆香港國際七人欖球賽，親身見證並積極投入香港女子欖球的成長歷程。 Information and photo source : Hong Kong China Rugby

[2026年2月10日，香港]：中國香港男、女子七人欖球隊正積極備戰2026年4月17日至19日於啟德主場館舉行的國泰/滙豐香港國際七人欖球賽，力爭衛冕「Melrose 銀劍賽」冠軍。 「Melrose銀劍賽」自2024年創辦以來，男子港隊已二度蟬聯冠軍。去年，港隊更包攬了男、女子賽事冠軍，為首度移師啟德主場館舉行的香港國際七人欖球賽奪得頭彩。男子港隊去年擊敗中國和日本隊封王；女子港隊則戰勝哈薩克和泰國，首次捧盃。 2026年，中國和日本將再次來港挑戰男子組比賽，這像是為9月舉行的第20屆亞運會的前哨戰。 中國香港男子七人欖球隊曾於印尼贏得首面亞運金牌，之後在杭州成功衛冕，兩度為香港奪金。但今年的亞運會將在日本名古屋舉行，港隊宿敵日本必定渴望主場爭勝。 港隊雙隊長之一蔡紀駿（James Christie）從小就觀看香港國際七人欖球賽，並在青年隊中嶄露頭角，最終於2023年首次出戰香港國際七人欖球賽，他在今日的公開訓練後表示：「這將是我們備戰亞運會的絕佳機會。 中國、日本和韓國都有實力贏得亞運會金牌，所以今年與他們進行的每一場比賽和每一個賽事，都有助於我們球隊的備戰。」 中國香港男子七人欖球隊教練高勳（Jevon Groves）對此表示贊同，他說：「在接下來的幾個月裡，我們必須把握與這些球隊交手的機會，並從中交出好的表現。挑戰賽的結果讓我們很失望，所以能夠參加Melrose銀劍賽、與兩支實力強勁的對手交鋒，真的有助我們集中精力。 我們現在的備戰計劃和原先為挑戰賽制定的計劃有所不同。球員們目前正在參加球會的比賽，還有幾輪比賽進行中，當比賽結束後，我們就可以全力備戰香港國際七人欖球賽了。」 高勳曾在2009年至2013年代表威爾斯參加香港國際七人欖球賽，他續說：「我們計劃安排幾天的對抗訓練，之後的四至五星期，我們將專注於備戰Melrose銀劍賽，屆時球隊的狀態應該不錯。」 男子港隊在挑戰者賽事中與加拿大戰至加時賽惜敗，無緣晉級。蔡紀駿表示球隊非常期待重返啟德主場館，2025年他們繼取得Melrose銀劍賽冠軍後，也在啟德主場館勇奪全運會金牌。他說：「在主場觀眾前比賽，我們都特別士氣高漲，我們覺得球迷們就像和我們一起在場上拼博，他們的打氣聲讓我們發揮得更好，我們也想他們為我們感到自豪。」 Melrose銀劍賽的女子組賽事將迎來首支非亞洲球隊參賽，丹麥將與中國香港和泰國同場競技。 「我們正在努力備戰，希望成功衛冕Melrose銀劍賽冠軍，也非常期待這場比賽。能在主場觀眾面前比賽總是令人興奮，啟德主場館的氣氛更是高漲。」女子港隊雙隊長之一高香慧（Natasha Olson Thorne) 說。她於2011年首次代表中國香港出戰香港國際七人欖球賽，此後一直是女子隊的重要成員。 高香慧續說：「我們對丹麥隊的了解不多，與新對手交鋒總是令人興奮的。我們對泰國隊非常熟悉，已經和她們交手過很多次，但無論如何，我們都會專注自己的表現，發揮應有的水平。球隊已經進行了相當長時間的備戰，我們一直在加強體能訓練，希望在比賽開始時，我們比以往都更加強大和更加健康。」 為了表揚中國香港欖球總會及蘇格蘭 Melrose 欖球會（註：此球會為七人欖球的發源地）在七人欖球運動的輝煌成就，雙方在2023年互相交換了各自著名的七人欖球賽事獎盃。 因此，Melrose銀劍賽的冠軍銀劍是由蘇格蘭 Melrose 欖球會捐贈，而香港國際七人欖球賽的銀盾則頒發予在 Melrose 欖球會舉行其中一場七人欖球賽的冠軍。 國泰/滙豐香港國際七人欖球賽是滙豐SVNS系列賽的三個世界錦標賽賽事之一，將有24支球隊參賽（男、女子隊各12支）。加上出戰「Melrose 銀劍賽」的六支球隊，屆時參賽的國際球隊總數將達到30支。今屆賽事即將踏入50週年，至今已售出超過10萬張門票。 國泰/滙豐香港國際七人欖球賽很高興成為一項「M」品牌認可活動，協助提升香港作為亞洲體育盛事之都的形象。獲大型體育活動事務委員會頒發的「M」品牌，標誌著緊張、精彩、刺激的大型體育活動。 球迷可瀏覽此網頁以了解更多關於國泰/滙豐香港國際七人欖球賽的所有門票種類及詳情，或瀏覽 hksevens.com  了解更多賽事訊息。 資料及相片來源 ：Elite Sport Asia Limited / 中國香港欖球總會
