2019/20 Asian Le Mans Series to feature a round at The Bend! The Asian Le Mans Series is the Asia Pacific endurance racing series of the Automobile Club de l’Ouest, (ACO – the founder and organiser of the famed 24 Hours of Le Mans). The Series will make its first trip down under in early 2020, bringing the thrill of international endurance racing to the South Australian public. Located approximately 100km from Adelaide, the capital of South Australia, The Bend is Australia’s newest permanent circuit. The Asian Le Mans Series will be the first series to use the full 7.77 km configuration. This configuration makes it the second longest permanent race track in the world, second only to the Nordschleife, Nurburgring. With tight, technical corners, fast flowing sections, and a rise and fall of 85 metres, exciting racing is guaranteed. With a top speed of 343.4 km/h recorded in the LMP2 class in the ‪2018 24‬ Hours of Le Mans, it is safe to say the lap record at The Bend will be broken. Outside the Formula 1 cars, the LMP2 cars at the front of the Asian Le Mans Series will be the fastest to compete in Australia in 2020. The Asian Le Mans Series field regularly features some of the biggest names in endurance racing including multiple Le Mans winners (both teams and drivers), multiple FIA World Endurance Champions, and former F1 drivers. The Asian Le Mans Series is run during the Australian summer (November to February), outside the normal Australian motorsport season. This will allow teams and drivers to compete in both the domestic championships and the Asian Le Mans Series if they wish. South Australia had a taste of prototype racing when American Le Mans Series teams participated in the once-off Race of a Thousand Years on the Adelaide street circuit on 31st December 2000. This time, 20 years later, the event will be a part of an international Championship, and it promises to deliver thrilling racing. With a world class live streaming and broadcast package reaching over a million viewers each race, the arrival of the Series is also an opportunity for South Australia to once again be put on the international motorsport stage. 【2019年1月15日，香港】2018 Ultra Trail Mount Fuji 及Tarawera 100K 冠軍、Red Bull Ultra Running選手 Dylan Bowman周六(1月19日)將會出戰「香港100越野賽」。首次訪港的他，對香港的郊野公園讚嘆不絕，他期望自己在周六的比賽以大約10小時完成。 「 香港100越野跑」是一項極考驗耐力的野外長跑賽事。比賽全長103公里，賽道以麥理浩徑為主線，起點為西貢半島北潭涌，終段設於香港之巔大帽山，整段路程累積登高路程超過5,300米，途徑若干風景優美的分岔路線，令參賽者在競賽之餘，如畫風光盡收眼簾之下。今年賽事雲集世界各地高手，同時吸引多位Red Bull Ultra Running 選手參賽，除美國的Dylan Bowman外，還有英國的新星Tom Evans及巴西的Fernanda Maciel。 周日抵港備戰的Dylan Bowman來自美國科羅拉多洲。在他的個人網站內，他只用了一句「I like exercising」作自我介紹，沒有其他字句，可見運動就是他，他就是運動。Dylan是一名前棍網球運動員，大學畢業後為了keep fit開始跑步。為了讓自己更有目標，2009年他只準備了數星期便參加了一項馬拉松賽事。2010年，他希望有更大的挑戰，在準備了一年的時間，參加了雲集世界各地耐力跑高手、著名的Leadville 100賽事。這項比賽在科羅拉多洲的山區Colorado Rockies舉行，沒有跑步背景的Dylan技驚四座、首次參賽便取得第3名。翌年他在這項賽事取得亞軍，另外在San Diego 100-Mile取得首項冠軍。Dylan的首項海外錦標是2015年新西蘭的Tarawera Ultramarathon。他更差不多45分鐘的時間刷新賽事紀錄。 對於周六準備參賽的本地跑手，Dylan透露自己的補給秘訣。他表示：「我比較喜歡飲用補給劑，所以，身上除了手提電話、哨子及頭燈外，我會帶備以水沖好的補給劑，這樣我便不用另外帶備energy bar。此外，在每個補給站，我都一定會飲用Red Bull Energy Drink。因為，Red Bull為我提供了我需要的糖份，它含有的咖啡因在比賽尾段起了重要作用，讓我更醒神、專注賽事。」 香港人工作十分繁忙，要保持身體狀態，Dylan認為最重要是堅持訓練，每天花20分鐘跑步，即使只有10分鐘也好。因為很多Ultra running的選手都不是每天都跑很長的距離，除非你希望成為世界頂尖跑手。Dylan說：「跑步不需要任何花巧的器材，簡簡單單一對跑步、配上運動衫便可，就算是海外公幹，也可以在酒店的跑步機訓練，實在很方便。」他鼓勵香港人多跑步，因為當你跑步不像其他運動需要很多的天份，只要你投入訓練，一定會有回報。此外，他表示自己喜歡較長距離的比賽，馬拉松比賽的距離對他來說太短了，此外，Ultra running的賽事通常在山間進行，他本人很喜歡與深山為伍，欣賞沿途美景。 對於周六的比賽，Dylan指出由於賽會今年修訂了路線，預料勝出選手今年的時間會比上屆慢20至30分鐘，當中多了很多上斜的路段。他在抵達後亦專程到大帽山的終點路段探路，由於預料周末的天氣轉為清涼，濕度也不太高，他本人希望可以在大約10小時完成賽事。 Information and photo source : N Square / Red Bull HK |

[2019年1月14日，香港]：新一輪的「畢馬威女子欖球超級聯賽」由次席的Borrelli Walsh三軍會猛虎欖球會(猛虎) 和榜首的法興銀行華利女子欖球會(華利)如常合演重頭戲，後者上週六險勝19-12。 兩軍皆有大批港腳效力，因此大家都未能搶佔上風，反而互換攻守卻格外耀眼。 華利的七人隊和十五人隊港腳謝家美(Colleen Tjosvold)狀態十足，並多番從後方發動攻撃和在完半場時為母會攻入2019年的首個達陣，這達陣也帶點幸運成份，因為對手有一名球員在39分鐘被罰黃牌離場。球員兼教練美露(Bella Milo)射入高難度附加罰球，合力以7-0領先對手。 下半場戰況陷於膠著，華利在60分鐘再找到缺口，一眾前鋒群起推進而達陣，美露也再次命中目標，於完場前20分鐘領先至14-0。 效力猛虎的港腳高香慧(Natasha Olson-Thorne)此刻挺身而出，憑一己之力奔跑35米取得達陣，再由美恩絲(Charlotte Myrans)射入附加罰球，並分差收窄一半。 求分心切的猛虎卻未有好好把握控球，被持球在手的華利消磨時間，並趁對手空群而出之際再度達陣，可惜美露的射門有所偏差，只能領先19-7。 猛虎完場前由後備兵HK Scottish stand strong in Shek Kip Mei with win over Tigers達陣，但附加罰球未能中鵠，華利亦成功抵擋猛虎的最後反撲，繼續延長不敗紀錄。 美露賽後讚賞球隊的演出時說: 「勝利當然令人開心而我們首20分鐘的表現十分理想。我們亦恰當地以慢打快並證明了這戰術湊效，現在我們可專心準備迎接九龍的一戰。」 猛虎主帥范信基滿意球隊的賣力表現，但球隊的紀律性仍有待改善，他道: 「今仗兩軍將女子欖球帶到更高水平。華利是實至名歸，她們向我方施予巨大壓力，每當我們犯錯便遭到她們的懲罰。她們3次得分都來自我們的失誤，這突顯了她們的攻力是何等的厲害。」 「我對一些個人錯失感到失望但整體表現並不失禮，尤其是落後14分下追回兩球，如果我們的隊型更堅固，進攻便會更銳利。」「我們也成功抵擋了她們的體力化打法，唯獨是自己犯錯而被對方乘虛而入。」 他續說: 「我們仍處於爭標的有利位置，今仗沒讓華利取得額外積分而我們卻有1分進帳，如果我們能全勝餘下所有賽事和收納全數額外積分，聯賽冠軍便可據為己有。」 當日其他前四份子賽事，第3位的雞糊鷹隊(雞糊）輕取香港嘉里酒店九龍欖球會(九龍) 38-5 。 至於下區戰場方面，SCAA第一太平銅鑼灣鳳凰欖球會(鳳凰)小勝Transact 24 大埔龍欖球會(大埔龍) 14-12，梅絲高芙(Elizabeth Musgrove)連中三元，協助Natixis香港足球會(港會)以36-10力克無塑海洋城市欖球會Sparkle (城市欖球會) 。 資料及相片來源 : Elite Step Asia / HKRU

- Da Costa and Sims crash out of leading position for BMW i Andretti Motorsport - D’Ambrosio makes moves for MAHINDRA RACING from 10th on the grid - Envision Virgin Racing earn double-podium with Vergne spinning in first-corner clash Jerome D’Ambrosio sprinted to victory in a dramatic last lap dash to the finish in Marrakesh, after a late safety car bunched-up the pack following a collision between BMW i Andretti Motorsport pairing Antonio Felix da Costa and Alexander Sims. Despite picking-up his third victory in Formula E, it’s the first time D’Ambrosio has actually stood on the top step of the podium - having benefitted from a post-race disqualification on both previous occasions. The win marks his first win since the Mexico City E-Prix in 2016 - and his first in MAHINDRA RACING colours. D’Ambrosio started down the field in 10th, but steadily progressed up the ranks to find himself sat behind the leading BMW duo. With less than 10-minutes left on the countdown clock, Da Costa and Sims looked set to bring home a one-two for the team - topping off a perfect start to the season after a win last time out in Ad Diriyah. However, it wasn’t to be - as a moment of madness cost the team a large points haul. Sims - who was on the tail of his team-mate for the duration of the race - pulled alongside Da Costa into the braking zone of Turn 7 in an attempt to snatch the lead. Both drivers locked-up and touched with neither making the corner. The coming together and slow recovery back to the racing line dropped Sims to fourth. But Da Costa came off worse with his race ending parked-up in the run-off area after contact with the barrier. With the cars lined-up in close formation, the safety car pulled in as the clock hit zero - leaving one lap to the chequered flag. Running wide over the kerb in the final corner - D’Ambrosio gave the fans a grandstand finish with Robin Frijns chasing him to the line. Frijns was joined on the podium by Envision Virgin Racing team-mate Sam Bird, who started on Julius Baer pole position and tangled with reigning champion Jean-Eric Vergne on the run down to Turn 1. Vergne lined-up on the front row alongside Bird and made an ambitious dive up the inside through the long left-hander. The pair made contact and Vergne was sent spinning ahead of a flurry of oncoming traffic. From last, Vergne valiantly fought back to fifth. Adrenaline still flowing after an exhilarating race, there’s not long to wait for another episode of electric street racing with the Antofagasta Minerals Santiago E-Prix on January 26 - round three of the 2018/19 ABB FIA Formula E Championship. With tens of thousands packing the precinct, and in what was easily the hottest race of the season with ambient temperatures reaching 34 degrees during the race, the battles on track were fierce! At the start of the race it was an Algavre Pro Racing 1-2 after a fantastic getaway from both of the team’s Bronze drivers, Ate Dirk De Jong (#24) and Christopher McMurry (#25). Phil Hanson in the Championship leading #22 United Autosports Ligier JS P2 Nissan was though able to pass them and take the lead early in the race. It was Hanson and his team mate Paul Di Resta that led most of the race before claiming their first Asian Le Mans Series race win, extending their Championship lead to 18 points. Whilst a perfectly timed pitstop when a full course yellow was called helped cement their position, the team ran without fault all weekend. The #24 Algarve Pro Racing Ligier JS P2 Judd of Harrison Newey and Andrea Pizzitola came home second, followed by Matthieu Lahaye, Jean-Baptiste Lahaye, and Francois Hériau in the #35 Panis Barthez Competition Ligier JS P2 Judd. The French team picking up its first Asian Le Mans Series podium. Nursing home the #4 ARC Bratislava Ligier JS P2 in to 4th position was Darren Burke. Due to an engine issue, Burke slowed significantly and lost third position overall to the Panis Barthez Ligier, He was though able to hold on to finish the race. The team also picking up the LMP2 AM Trophy win taking the Class Championship lead by 9 points. In LMP3 the battle was intense from the start. Once again it was Nigel Moore in the #65 Viper Niza Racing Ligier JS P3 that made a storming start to be up to 4thoutright on the opening lap. His run was cut short after hitting debris and having to hit for new tyres. This left Matt Bell in the #3 United Autosports Ligier JS P3 to pull away at the front of the LMP3 field. As the race went on, it became a battle between the sister United Autosports car, the polesitting Ligier JS P3 of Chris Buncombe, Garett Grist and Wayne Boyd and the #13 Inter Europol Competition Ligier JS P3 of Jakub Smiechowski and Martin Hippe. After being forced to pit for loose body work, the #13 dropped out of contention for the win, but fought hard to secure second position and retain the LMP3 Championship lead. They now lead the LMP3 class by 8 points. In third place after the #3 suffered a broken exhaust and got stuck in 4thgear was the #79 Ecurie Ecosse / Nielsen Racing Ligier JS P3 of Tony Wells and Colin Noble. In GT it was the #66 TianShi Racing Team Audi R8 LMS with Max Wiser that had a stunning start yet again to be comfortable leading the GT Class and running ahead of a number of the LMP3 entries early in the race. Class pole sitter, the #51 Spirit of Race Ferrari 488 GT3 dropped back to be 4th in Class in the early running. 1.5 hours into the race and there was a full course yellow after the #5 TF Sport Aston Martin V12 Vantage had a power steering and brake failure with Johnny Mowlem behind the wheel. The failure caused a scary moment for the Aston driver, but Mowlem did well to scrub off speed through the gravel trap making only light contact with the barrier. He would make it back to the pits where the team opted to retire the car. After the first driver changes, it was GT Class Championship leader, Car Guy that continued their dominant run in the 2018/19 Season, with series newcomer and highly experienced racer, Jean Karl Vernay chasing hard in the #88 TianShi Racing Team Audi R8 LMS. Once James Calado got in the #11 Car Guy Ferrari, he pulled away from Vernay in the #88 TianShi Racing Team Audi R8, and pole sitter, Alessandro Pier Guidi in the #51 Spirit of Race Ferrari 488 GT3. Despite a number of driving infringements that saw Calado receive multiple penalties, he pushed hard and ensured the Japanese team won their third race of the season to extend their lead in the Championship to 24 points. [2019年1月12日，香港]：「畢馬威女子欖球超級聯賽」經過上半季的激戰後，賽事現在分成上下兩區（按積分榜排名一分為二），各自爭奪總決賽冠軍寶座。 法興銀行華利女子欖球會(華利)和雞糊鷹隊(雞糊）這兩支決賽常客一如所料躋身上區，新勢力Borrelli Walsh三軍會猛虎欖球會(猛虎) 也佔一席位，她們有力造成三雄鼎立的局面。 猛虎藉在11月以34-5輕取雞糊而進佔積分榜次席 ，這支以京士柏為主埸的球隊在開季首戰不敵華利（負21-29）後已連勝6仗，一眾港隊新星亦乘勢而起，為球隊取得聯賽+318的最佳得失分差，還要比不敗之師華利多出65分。 聯賽前四份子合力打造響亮的下半季開鑼日，猛虎將於英皇佐治五世學校（下午5時30分）希望在華利身上一雪前恥。 雞糊將作客(傍晚6時)九龍，至於下區賽事則有Transact 24 大埔龍欖球會(大埔龍)主場鬥SCAA第一太平銅鑼灣鳳凰欖球會(鳳凰)[下午3時30分] ，以及無塑海洋城市欖球會Sparkle (城市欖球會) 與Natixis香港足球會(港會)交手[傍晚6時] 。 華利和猛虎均可精銳盡出，季初兩軍的七人隊成員因受港隊徵召而未有上陣。猛虎主帥范信基直言他的年輕班底今次沒有藉口並說: 「根據上回聯賽的成績和今次七人隊成員的回歸，我們應可以與華利好好一戰，這場『五五波』的結果取決於球員當天發揮的好與壞。」 「我們面對華利這名勁敵需要好好組織攻勢和嚴密佈防。」 猛虎特地在週四的訓練時增設一場「戰術大會」，讓球員更能充分掌握指令，范氏說: 「週四是假期後的首課操練，我有些新構思希望她們能在週六運用出來，大家很期待比賽的來臨。」 華利在過去10年壟斷了本地女子欖球，球隊一直以來的穩健演出是成功元素，球員兼教練美露(Bella Milo)說: : 「上年我們的部份主力球員缺席操練而令球隊的成績起伏不定，但今季卻沒有這個問題。」 雖然上季將聯賽和總決賽錦標拱手相讓予雞糊，美露揚言要今季東山再起並道: 「我們仍有進步空間並多加鑽研防守，更針對上仗對雞糊時的失球作特訓。」「猛虎也狀態大勇並且常以大比數勝出，我預計她們也會來勢洶洶。」 美露亦同意范 信基指明日賽果取決於爭勝心的強弱之言，她說: 「這場交手令人興奮，誰的發揮更好便能勝出。我們克敵之計是力保控球權和摧毀對手的界外球和鬥牛陣。」 「聯賽上半季利於我們磨劍，如今聯賽分流後令局勢更添趣味，除了週六賽事外我們也期待再下星期與九龍的一戰。」 九龍在2018年最後一場力克鳳凰才能取得第4位，如今下區排名先後依次為鳳凰、港會、大埔龍和城市欖球會。 資料及相片來源 : Elite Step Asia / HKRU

11 – 12 January 2019 After winning the previous round of the Asian Le Mans Series, Algarve Pro Racing will start in pole position in Thailand. Pole Position – by class: LMP2: Harrison Newey #24 Algarve Pro Racing Ligier JS P2 Judd / LMP2 Am Trophy: Darren Burke #4 ARC Bratislava Ligier JS P2 Nissan LMP3: Wayne Boyd, United Autosports, Ligier JS P3 GT: Alessandro Pier Guidi #51 Spirit of Race Ferrari 488 GT3 / GT Am: Max Wiser #66 TianShi Racing Team Audi R8 LMS After the very cold temperatures the teams experienced in the opening two rounds of the Asian Le Mans Series, the air temperature was in the low 30’s as qualifying got under way for the 4 Hours of Buriram. First up was the GT qualifying. Setting the fastest time of the session was Alessandro Pier Guidi in the #51 Spirit of Race Ferrari 488 GT3. Making it an all Ferrari front row was James Calado in the Car Guy Ferrari 488 GT3. Third fastest was Series debutant, Jean Karl Vernay in the TianShi Racing Team Audi R8 LMS. Max Wiser in the #66 TianShi Racing Team Audi R8 LMS was the fastest GT AM, followed by Bonamy Grimes in the #5 TF Sport Aston Martin V12 Vantage. As the sun slowly set, qualifying for the LMP2 and LMP3 cars got underway. In a high paced 15 minute session, it was reigning Champion Harrison Newey in the #24 Algarve Pro Racing Ligier JS P2 Judd that claimed the outright pole position. In second place was Phil Hanson in the #22 United Autosports Ligier JS P2 Nissan, just 0.385 seconds behind him. In third place was the leading LMP2 Am Trophy entry, the #4 ARC Bratislava Ligier JS P2 Nissan with Darren Burke behind the wheel. Second fastest in the LMP2 Am Trophy was the Class leader, the #23 United Autosports Ligier JS P2 with Guy Cosmo behind the wheel. In third place was Anders Fjordbach in the #25 Algarve Pro Racing Ligier JS P2 Judd. The battle for LMP3 pole was claimed by Wayne Boyd in the #2 United Autosports Ligier JS P3. Second fastest in the session was Nigel Moore in the #65 Ligier JS P3 from Malaysian team Viper Niza Racing.
