DECEMBER 7, 2025 ANTANANARIVO (Madagascar) - Both men’s and women’s Madagascar teams took home the win at the FIBA 3x3 Africa Cup 2025 on December 7 It was a repeat scenario of last season, with Madagascar sweeping yet again on home turf. Both finals ended up being Madagascar taking on Egypt, both delivering spectacularly. The men’s matchup went down to the wire, leaning almost the entire way in favor of Egypt. Scores stood at 19 - 16 down the stretch with advantage to Egypt, Madagascar on the brink of a loss. But in the clutch, Elly Randriamampionona and Livio Ratianarivo drilled huge two-pointers to tie the game up late at 20 apiece. Alpha Solondrainy was the one who called game with a ferocious drive, sealing the 21 - 20 win for Madagascar in blockbuster fashion. On the women’s side, the Final proved to be just as thrilling. A back-and-forth battle, hotly contested all the way to the end ended up falling the way of the home side. They grabbed crucial rebounds down the stretch and made timely buckets in tandem. Sydonie Andriamihajanirina and Minaharisoa Jaofera put up 6 each to lead the way for an incredible 17 - 16 victory for the win. In the third-place games, the men from Rwanda came through for the win. Chandelier Twizeyimana Cyiza Nshuti led his side in scoring with 8 while Olivier Turatsinze was the one to drill the final bucket to lead them to an elusive place on the podium with a 21 - 13 victory over Algeria. On the women’s side, Kenya would take the honors in a 14 - 11 win over Rwanda. Christine Akinyi put up a team-high 7 points as they grinded out a crucial win for a podium spot. The star of the tournament on the men’s side was the undeniable Elly Randriamampionona. He answered the call every time Madagascar needed a bucket. He came in clutch in the final, his whopping 11 points paving the way for a historical win once again on home turf. He finished with a tournament-high 45 points and a player-value score of 54.2. He would earn MVP plaudits and would lead the Team of the Tournament alongside Egypt’s Youssef Refaat and Rwanda’s Justin Uwitonze who were key to their sides earning places on the podium. Peugeot factory driver Mikkel Jensen returns to the Asian Le Mans Series, racing in LMP2 with United Autosports alongside Italy’s Giorgio Roda and Switzerland’s Gregoire Saucy in the no5 Oreca-Gibson. In 2022 Jensen became the first ever driver in the European Le Mans Series to win a race in all three categories when the Dane won the 4 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps for Kessel Racing in LMGTE to add to his wins in LMP3 for Eurointernational in 2019 when he won the category title at the end of the season, and a win in LMP2 in the 2020 4 Hours of Portimao. Since 2022 Mikkel Jensen has been part of the Peugeot TotalEnergies Hypercar squad, scoring his first podium in the top category in the 2023 6 Hours of Monza alongside Paul Di Resta and Jean-Eric Vergne. Q: Welcome back to the Asian Le Mans Series. This is your first season with United Autosports. You raced against the team in various championships over the years, what are you looking forward to the most racing with United Autosports? A: “I’m really looking forward to being back in the Asian Le Mans Series. I’ve done it three times before in GT, this time in LMP2 … even faster car, will be more fun! Top class racing and my first championship with United Autosports.” Q: You are racing with Gregoire Saucy and Giorgio Roda. Tell us a bit more about your teammates and have you raced with either of them before? A: “Both teammates are new, so I don’t have experience working with Giorgio or Gregoire just yet. DECEMBER 4, 2025 MIES (Switzerland) - The first-ever FIBA Masters Open will bring together thousands of 40+ players from across the world in an inclusive event that will celebrate the power of basketball and its unique ability to unite people. The FIBA Masters Open 2026 is an exciting new instrument in FIBA's long-term participation strategy, serving to strengthen its vision of one global basketball community. Approved by the FIBA Central Board, the inaugural FIBA Masters Open will be held in Greece, in collaboration with the Hellenic Basketball Federation and supported by the Regional Governments of Attica (Western Attica) and Corinth. The FIBA Masters Open 2026 will offer players aged 40 and above, men and women, the chance to compete in both basketball and 3x3, reinforcing FIBA’s commitment to expanding its global basketball community. The inaugural event will take place from July 4 to 12 in Corinth and Loutraki, two historic and touristic destinations which lie approximately 80 kilometers west of Athens. Greece was chosen to host the tournament due to its outstanding basketball heritage and proven track record in organizing FIBA tournaments. The FIBA Masters Open 2026 is not limited to national teams or former professional players; with the main eligibility criteria being the age of athletes, with any player able to participate, and more than one team per country welcome. The event will also be split into 5-year age categories, starting from 40-45 years old and extending up to 75+. It is anticipated that the new tournament will bring together more than 2000 participants from around the world, representing over 200 teams, including 3x3. The event will introduce a festival-like, celebratory atmosphere, with games taking place at between 15 and 18 dedicated venues. Additionally, the introduction of this new competition is expected to have wider benefits, including supporting active ageing, promoting healthy lifestyles, and contributing to meeting Sustainable Development Goals that are linked to sport participation. FIBA Secretary General Andreas Zagklis said: "We are proud to offer new opportunities to the FIBA Family, and the introduction of the FIBA Masters Open 2026 is something for the sport to truly celebrate." Zagklis continued, "FIBA has recognized not only the importance of providing a competition like this for those over the age of 40, but also the wider health and social benefits that such a competition can bring for the community as a whole. DECEMBER 4, 2025 MIES (Switzerland) - The FIBA World Ranking Men, presented by Nike, has been updated following the conclusion of the first window of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 Qualifiers. This marks the first ranking release since the introduction of a new improved system. USA retained the number one spot after collecting two victories in the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 Americas Qualifiers. The Paris 2024 gold medalists defeated Nicaragua twice in the first window of the Qualifiers on the Road to Qatar 2027. The defending World Cup 2023 and EuroBasket 2025 champions Germany are still second after wins over Israel and Cyprus in the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 European Qualifiers. The rest of the top 10 remained unchanged - but movement could come soon. Canada grabbed two wins to close the gap on France, who went 1-1 in the window, while Lithuania’s 1-1 record leaves them with only a minimal lead over Brazil, who collected two victories. The first change appears at No. 11, where Türkiye leapfrogged Latvia after securing two wins, while Latvia finished the window at 1-1. Latvia are also in danger of slipping further, with Greece sitting just 0.3 points behind after likewise picking up two wins. Besides Türkiye in Europe, Lebanon, Mexico, and Cape Verde are the highest teams moving up for Asia and Oceania, the Americas, and Africa, respectively. Among the biggest climbers in the standings were Jamaica, who moved up eight spots to number 87 after beating Puerto Rico twice in the window. NOVEMBER 30, 2025 LEÓN (Mexico) - Both men’s and women’s USA teams took home the win at the FIBA 3x3 AmeriCup 2025 on November 30. Both finals ended up being a repeat of last year, the United States taking on Puerto Rico on the men’s side and Canada on the women’s side. It was Deja Vu for the American men who earned back-to-back AmeriCup wins after a 21 - 15 victory over familiar foes. Cameron Forte led the charge in the battle, scoring 8 points through his physicality and paving the way for the result. The win would extend their dominance in the competition, marking a fourth victory in five iterations of the tournament. On the women’s side, Team USA would exact revenge from their 2024 loss to Canada. It was another contested battle, going right down to the wire. The Canadians grinded the game down through their astute defense and physicality, pulling themselves back into a game that seemed to be in the Americans’ control for the most part. Despite tying things up 19 - 19 late on, a foul on Allisha Gray would send her to the line, where she would put things to bed 21 - 19 in favor of Team USA. It would be their third AmeriCup win, surpassing Canada, with whom they were tied at 2 wins each. In the third-place games, Brazil would complete a sweep of their own, both men’s and women’s teams earning Bronze with wins over Canada and the Dominican Republic, respectively. The men earned a 21 - 16 victory off the back of a mammoth performance by Leonardo Branquinho who scored 12 in their winning effort. The women won 21 - 14 against the Dominican Republic, led by a combined 17-point display from Vitória Moura and Gabriela Guimarães. The star of the tournament on the men’s side was the USA debutant Cameron Forte, who proved to be unstoppable all tournament in the Americans’ run in León. He scored a team-high 34 points, including 8 coming in their crucial final against Puerto Rico. He would earn MVP plaudits and would lead the Team of the Tournament alongside Puerto Rico’s Antonio Ralat and Brazil’s Leonardo Branquinho, who were key to their sides earning places on the podium. On the women’s side, 3x3 Olympic gold medalist Allisha Gray came in clutch when it mattered most. While she was a consistent offensive force throughout, her undeniable run in the final against Canada was pivotal. She put up a team-high 9 points and stayed cool under pressure to nail the winning free throws. She took home MVP honors and a spot in the women’s Team of the Tournament alongside Canada’s Katherine Plouffe and Brazil’s Gabriela Guimarães, who led the way for their sides, earning podium places in León, Mexico.
